Only certain type of personality can CTB

Hi,
I've been giving alot of thought into my ctb and also trying to get in touch with people who are about to ctb to learn what is it that makes someone more successful at combating their SI while attempting to end their lives and I havent found a clear answer. Personally I have the belief that only certain type of personality especially high risk taking, romantic, idealists that can successfully do the deed because they have the ability to transcend their fears and instincts that goes with mortality. I been trying to look inside myself to find such resources to help me navigate this barrier to ctb but I havent been successful so far.

I am curious what is your prospective about what it takes to ctb and what type of people are more successful at it

I think if anybody has suffered enough then they will be able to do it. Desperation makes us more likely to overcome the survival instinct. I think rather than personality type it is how much pain you are in.
I do think high risk taking people will go for methods like jumping over others for example.

I dont feel suffering is enough generally to push people to do it.A Traumatic and humiliating event however can push somebody to end it. As an example is Aboazizi the poor guy who was selling vegetables in a cart in Tunisia who has no other source of income, he was slapped by a female police officer when he refused to obey a removal order for his business. That alone made him soak himself with gasoline and then light himself up on fire until he succumbed to his death. That event alone started the Arab spring back in 2012. I lean towards thinking not everyone is able to do it no matter how much suffering they can take.

bringing up this story here made me realize something about myself. The reason I am finding it hard to ctb in a way thats as peaceful as Nembutal, is that my death will be meaningless and self centred. I think I was more hopeful that my ctb should be more than just getting rid of the pain of this reality. I think I am hoping to die heroically or in self sacrificing manner for the greater good.

Youre right. Personality plays a huge factor.
Like that example that you gave. Same as how: some people could fight to death over a small mistake but other people still hold their anger even from big issues.

If you learn from psychology. People who are a risk taker would ctb more easily cause ctb is taking the risk of the unknown, its a gamble. Also people who are more impulsive would likely to ctb faster.

In contrary people who are the opposite. Will be so much harder to do it.

I agree with the personalitys you have described and the CTB, I guess these people can hang themselfs, drown more easy then others.

Which I also am unable to do, but I will say, I am very able to drink N, and just fall asleep and not wake up. So maybe you should look into this if you find the other methods difficult due to SI.
