olanzapine as a sedative sn method

i have 40mg of olanzapine. can i use it as a sedative if i dont have benzos?

Olanzapine is occasionally prescribed off-label as an anti-anxiety, and drowsiness is a commonly reported side effect, so you can certainly get some of the desired traits that benzos typically offer.

As an antipsychotic, a typical starting dose of olanzapine is on average between 10-15mg and an average maintenance dose is 20-50mg, so I think you'll be okay with the 40mg that you have, although I certainly doubt it will have the same effectiveness as a benzodiazepine class drug.

Olanzapine has many interactions, if you are on other medications, I suggest you search online to safeguard against unwanted reactions.

thanks for the reply. if i dont get benzos i'll take the olanzapine. i dont take any other medications. will it have any effects on the metoclopramide?

I was initially going to say no, but I ran them through the free Drug Interaction Checker on WebMd and it states:


I don't believe you'll have any issue, but obviously you always run the risk that your one of the few that will be adversely effected.

i'll have to make a plan to get the benzos then. right now i feel i wont need them but i'mm not so sure how i'll feel on the ctb day. thanks @Jrmull1993

i have all of these symptoms and they have been progressing for years but i take neither medications, doctors dont give a fuck and just shrug anyone got any idea whats going on with me?
