• Hey Guest,

We wanted to share a quick update with the community.

Our public expense ledger is now live, allowing anyone to see how donations are used to support the ongoing operation of the site.

Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

If you value the community and would like to help support its continued operation, donations are greatly appreciated. If you wish to donate via Bank Transfer or other options, please open a ticket.

In the grand scheme of things, nothing really matters. It's a potentially dangerous, amoral idea, but it rings so true to me. It's also paradoxically comforting. Absolutely everyone will disappear & be forgotten.

The most liberating thought in the history of the universe.

This thought is a little bit like a drug. If taken in moderation it makes life a bit more bearable and peaceful. But if one indulges in it too much it may destroy your life as well as those of others...

What happens if you willfully consent to having your life destroyed?

then that's alright. If your goal is suicide then this idea is very helpful, at least that's the case for me.

Why is it an amoral idea?
I agree that it is liberating (imagine there being some higher purpose; the pressure to fulfill it would be immense), but it is also enraging, since all the suffering in this world is for naught. Life is created, suffers, and dies for no good reason.

Yeah, that's why so many people who don't actually believe in God anymore are still afraid to dispense with religion
Why is it an amoral idea?
Because if nothing really matters, it doesn't matter whether people's behavior is morally right or wrong
Life is created, suffers, and dies for no good reason.
Yes

I agree with you. Before I got sick, I was never scared of dying or getting a terminal illness, and I sometimes had discussions with other people where I mentioned that life is quite meaningless, even though I explained that I appreciate life, and enjoy things in life (I was never depressed at the time) most people couldn't understand how I could say that life was meaningless. But it's fact, we live here for a short time, and if we are lucky we won't suffer that much. Of course I can understand how religious people (those who believe there is a better life after this) don't see life as meaningless, but for me as an agnostic person who see it as most likely that there is just "nothingness" after this life, so in my opinion in the grand scheme of things life is meaningless.

Yup.

First you die and maybe some guys and girls will cry about you and say what a "great person" you were.
Then, decades will go by and you'll "die" for a second time you won't even be remembered unless you're Elon Musk.
Someone might find one of your social networks if they still exist but you'll be nothing more than a virtual thing which will be forgotten again some minutes later.

Nonsense life and universe!

Life literally is the most pointless thing ever. Dying makes all life meaningless. I find it comforting as no matter what happens it will end someday. Non existence is ideal to me, consciousness is a prison. Individual human lives do not matter, as a species our only purpose is to reproduce the next generation. There is no greater purpose to our lives. I feel like people try to convince themselves that life has some sort of meaning as a coping mechanism or otherwise they would go insane from the pointlessness of it all.
