Hi, sorry if this is a dumb question

Would it be messed up if I didn't leave a note? I feel like no one truly ever really cared about me, at least not enough to notice the signs of how badly I was struggling. I don't really have anyone to write a note to anyways apart from my family but even then they didn't really seem to care. If I were to write one I want people to know about the pain I was suffering but at the same time I feel like someone could take that as me blaming them. IDK, I'm in a predicament here.

Only around 20 percent of people leave a note. It is generally better too leave a note but I have no idea what I would write so…

There was a father who made a post here a while ago who was messed up because his son left without a note. If that's something you're concerned about, leaving a note is generally the best choice.

I'd always recommend to write a note, even a short one, just to tell them it wasn't impulsive and to show the your intense suffering. Mine is ready since last year but I must write a new note because new things happened since last year (like being eligible for assisted suicide). Writing a note is not easy, but I think it's important. Family and friends will ask for a million answers. Without a note, I guess it will be more difficult for them.

I guess that makes sense. I don't want people to blame themselves but at the same time I want people to know the pain a lot of them caused me, is that fucked up to say? Also if you don't mind sharing, how did you get eligible for assisted suicide?

I will not leave a suicide note, because my parents are narcisistic, cold, unloving and uncomforting people. I don't have any friends nor spouses (girlfriends) to whom I may leave a suicide letter either.

I agree totally. If you have anyone that loves you, truly loves you, then leave them a note. Your death will be less painful to them that way. They won't be asking themselves endlessly why you did it. They will have the answer.

I'll highly suggest to write a note stating that
Why you did ctb
Who was responsible
What was your method
And if you wanna leave any msg for anyone in particular schedule that as an email to be delivered after you are gone

Why? Because police will investigate your death. They will have to rule out if it's murder or suicide. So, that note will help as an evidence that you have taken this step and what was your method so they don't have to drill down into your privacy after you are no more

Whether you wanna leave a note or not is you personal decision.

A note can help your family/loved ones/friends understand your decision eventually.

Thank you so much for the ideas. I really appreciate it, I was wanting to write about who was so responsible but I was too scared of how it would make them feel. At this point though I realized I'll be dead so it doesn't really matter lol

It's my pleasure. Happy to help. Though not my original ideas. It's just based on what I have read on SaSu. It's very helpful to read articles here.
Though if you are going to mention who is responsible, it may put them in legal trouble as well, so write how they were responsible and whether you don't want any legal proceedings on them. You forgive them for what they did to you.
In my case, I'll write that no one in particular is responsible, it's my conscious decision to quit and I'm the only one responsible to finalise this decision. And there's no one and nothing that could have changed my mind. I would have done it anyways.

Personally, the only people who will probably give a fuck already know why I would kill myself, I told them 100 times, if not more.

However, if that's not the case, a short note including the main reasons is a really nice thing to do (or it might not be if indeed the same people are part of the reason), that is if you care about these people and don't want them left wondering – like a father who recently posted here did after his son never told him anything and didn't leave a note either.
On the other hand I don't think anyone should feel obliged to write one either. In the end (pun intended), it is your life and your decision how to end it or not and whether or not to care about anyone else's feelings about it and people should respect that. It's not like their life is subjectively as bad as yours, as they are obviously still around. If your demise makes it as bad they probably should have thought about that and acted accordingly earlier in order to prevent you from feeling you had to end it.

Regarding myself: As someone who never was much cared for in life on an emotional level, I personally don't feel obligated to explain my death to most people, whenever/if it comes to that. As I hinted above already I also don't think anyone would really care much or even understand my reasons because none of them reflect any of their realities in life. It does to a large extend feel pointless to try to explain to them in death what they obviously couldn't understand in life whenever I tried.

Overall it's just quite a personal decision that depends much on the wider circumstances a certain individual might be in and everyone has to make for themselves, I guess.
