Bravo, @DisaffectedOne. That's a really level-headed approach. I may need to follow suit --though I admit, the vast majority of my friends are here, and I'm not sure leaving the support I get from my PMs would help me survive. I'll just have to see how the coming weeks play out.

I believe you can do whatever you want! Its 2019 and you are allowed to have a fresh start starting whenever you like. I agree life was very shitty in 2018, and I hope 2019 is better for me. I have little hope though, but who knows we will see as time passes.

I'm not as addicted to this forum like last year. Work and distractions have kept me busy, and haven't had an argument with my wife in awhile which is good. I'll come on to casually post and help others come to terms with their decision.

But on a serious note, I've been suffering a deep depressive episode ever since New Year's Eve. I find it absurd that those who I associate with are always posting on social media the "new year new me" crap every single year; I just don't get it and it annoys me? Idk. One can be a "new me" any day of the year, lol. I'm just tired of seeing new year celebrations every year, with the fact that it's just another 365 days and nothing is gonna change. It's been almost two decades, and I'm the same place I was when I was merely a child. And I do not see myself going any farther, I've done everything I could. It's just a year. And every year will get worse. Stop celebrating it in my face please. I apologize if all of this comes out as ignorance. I just don't get all of this, never did.

But I guess I used to be excited for new years till I noticed that nothing would change. I believe all of this fake optimism, make-believe and exaggerated excitement during New Year's Celebration are unnecessary waste of energy.
