put a rope over the door... tried with some random rope I think for curtains or something but is enclosed in a loop... put it over the door, struggled to close it from the size of the rope and as a preface I've made it hard for myself to breathe with a belt but... as I knelt further and further to ground I couldn't breathe at all. That was kind of scary but now I feel more confident in this being a possible method if i do ctb. It's so close, Like I have a little more things I need to deal with but soon I'm completely read to go if need or willed to be

I have a question though.

i'm 6'4 and ~280. I just tested, if i put the loop at pretty much the very top of the door, there's enough height to create a full suspension where i can't touch the ground... is polyester half inch rope a good choice?

Is there a chance of the rope snapping or something doing this? Was going to use zipties so i wouldn't be able to grab at the rope. There's enough height where i wouldn't be able to grab anything, but I'm worried that the fact that im against the door means i won't be able to ctb but i felt it. I really want to die.

The fact that I just couldn't breathe no matter how hard i tried when i tested it a few days ago makes me feel like this can work.

I wonder if the door is sturdy enough to take your full weight

Yeah I'd be concerned about the door not being able to hold your dead weight for long enough. Even if you think you're putting all of your weight on it, when you fully relax (after going unconscious), you'll weigh more

As for the rope snapping, you'd need to check how much weight it could take

Set it up and grab the rope with your hands. Does it hold?

I've thought of using a door too. I'd put books/wedges or something at the bottom for support.

You guys make a lot of sense... Thanks...

Definitely will try that...

When I get my rope I'm gonna go try that but first this is what I was thinking (By SGT KNOTS) On the website... Looks good unless anyone here thinks SGT KNOTS are a bad brands or something

I agree XD It sucks... Weighing more and being taller I feel makes it harder to find good points to ctb with a rope inside. I searched it up... and I think it could possibly work ( will test regardless) if i also use books or wedges as a brace I think... I feel like it's possible. There's also the fact I'm probably going to go to an air bnb or something... It's a plus If I can find a patio but at worst I'd try to see if a plain door could work because I could, right now, do an airbnb with honestly great anchor points in late march but... that's way to scary for me. Think I need to see if my method works and get all my supplies before doing

Spending my hours looking more into this method. Crazy first thread if find and op is some what the same weight as me,260, I'm 6'1 tho :( Usually the posts are with people who weigh much less lol.

I'm thinking of getting some sort of anchor point and drilling it into the wall. I live alone and in a rental apartment. As I feel like a door would be too flimsy and the ceiling is pretty low so I can't do a full hang.

Hopefully being heavier won't be too much of a hassle, but I guess it could be a positive due to any change in sudden movement…the force will be much more dramatic, if that makes sense.

Double braided dock line is crazy strong. (boats are heavy)
It has a smooth surface you will appreciate.

Shit I didn't even think about possibly drilling a hole or something... I never really thought about how the door could fail. Will definitely look more into that.
Also I feel that anon-- wish there was easier methods

Sorry for annoying you with so many questions but... I thought it was advised to not get nylon because it stretches? Most of all I see for that type is nylon... only other doubled braided dockline polyester has a HUGE loop that I assume will cut off to make a proper knot...

Thanks for all your advise btw.

Finally a thread with people of height and weight. 6'10" and 270 here. Trying to find a place that'll work. Think I've finally got it figured. Rope is half inch and like that dock stuff. Smooth and sort of shiny.

Please let me know if you guys got any ideas on rope and anchor points :) I will update you guys on here if not another thread too...

I live in a house alone I'm not sure if you do. Even if you're in an apartment it might be doable with a stud finder. I've thought of getting in my attic and finding a strong rafter/beem and drilling holes on either side through the ceiling. Rig the rope up. I weigh 100lbs less though. If there's doubts the rafter's not strong enough it could be reinforced with two by fours or something.

I'm not sure if the half inch rope is good enough or not. I guess people usually use thicker ropes, right? I got one but it's a climbing rope and just cut off the carabiner and is only like a quarter inch thick. I'm not sure if that's good enough or not, myself, but it sure chokes you.

With your size, I'd say I'd be more concerned about the door remaining up, tbh

I would want to lose consciousness very quickly. There was an experiment I saw in one of the suspension threads how if you lean forward for long enough, you feel fine, but then when you let go, you actually pass out completely then you fall back into suspension being already unconscious. I'd like to go that way, if possible. But sn is my current method. Maybe I'll try to combine both.

I can't find the video, I'll try to find it later.
