I'm 20y now, and reached this conclusion when I was 14-16

I realized that I would need something to give meaning to my life (for the long haul) for when my parents pass away. First I tried having hobbies, then self-knowledge (which really helps and is cool, but doesn't hold things up 100% of the time). Then, around 17-18, when I realized there was no other way out and I probably wouldn't be able to find something that gave me meaning in time, I "gave up" on searching and accepted that the best I could do was to live as decently as possible until then.

But then that devil (my ex) found me. and as bad as it was, it gave me an extra sense of purpose. I realized that most people are actually right: relationships are the fastest way for you to find meaning in your life LOL. Btw I have a theory that a huge portion of people only have kids/get married to have that kind of meaning; that would explain all these people who hate their own marriage and their own family.

I'm not saying that other things like hobbies and self-discovery don't help, but I know myself, and I know that this probably wouldn't hold me 100% of the time. Like, Idk... In a future scenario when everyone I care about dies, I'm stuck in some shitty job, everything is going wrong. If I have a gun at home, I am 99% sure that no philosophical passage or song I like is going to stop me during that 20 to 50-minute window of extreme intrusive thoughts.

It may sound super cringe, mostly because it was an online relationship, but during that year when my entire life was an infernal mess, the fact that my mom was alive stopped me from trying anything—obviously, that was the primary factor. But in those moments I also thought about my gf, thought that she would be sad and all, and that we would still have a good future together, so it stopped being worth doing it.

Only there's also a problem: most people can do that whole thing of marrying someone they don't love just to not feel empty, but I can't LOL. So I would have to find someone I TRULY like, and it's really hard for me to relate to people. So it's VERY rare to find someone I truly like who also connects well with me. And I know what you're going to say "It's just emotional dependency!!! 🙄🙄" but it's not. It's more of a mental calculation that makes sense FOR ME.

*If my life is going well, yay, awesome, I hope it stays that way.*

But if it gets VERY bad (completely normal. Shit happens to everyone) and I don't find some greater purpose to live for, I know that with access I'll end up ending everything—I'm not saying that LOVE is the ONLY thing that would give me meaning, I'm just saying it's THE EASIEST AND FASTEST. It's basically in the DNA of any human being. But yeah, it could be that out of nowhere, even without having anyone, I might suddenly find a sport I love, or a hobby like that; that's why I'm envious of Andrew from Whiplash, for example, LOL, or anyone like that.

Btw I also 1 month way of probably being diagnosed with autism

Same tbh. I don't know what your exact situation is, but, even though I do have some fun hobbies that have "given me meaning" I've felt so demotivated to the point where I can't even enjoy those lately, so my best bet would also be to find love, but I have no fucking clue how I'd ever meet anyone good with how asocial I am. Sorry for venting on ur post lol just felt relatable. I hope things get better for you

Your feelings are completely valid, never forget that!! Youre reason isnt "pathetic" as you may think, everyone has their reasons and they shouldn't be downplayed, including yours <3 i also struggle with finding stuff and hobbies I enjoy, i have no motivation to leave my bed so I spend my days doing nothing and I never want to accomplish anything either. it isnt fair we need a purpose to keep on going, so without one its reasonable to want to stop living. I hope you can find the peace you deserve, and hopefully happiness in the long run!!

dw it's interesting (and kinda sad) to see I'm not the only one trapped on this loop

I mean, it's okay to want to CTB just because you don't like life anymore. For a lot of us, that is the essence of our motivations. What I can tell you is that it might not be inevitable. I had those feelings when I was 16/17 and I've made it over 30 more years that were mostly okay, frequently even happy. I'm glad I had that even if I'm ending up in the same place in the end. Love isn't easy for everyone. It's okay to be particular so long as you accept that is your choice and don't resent being denied love or something weird and creepy. I've had chances and I've had people that I loved and who loved me. I even have a loving partner now, I just know she doesn't really like or respect me and that's eating away at me. That's not pathetic, it just is. It's okay to keep going just because you want to see what comes next, but it's also okay to eventually stop wanting that. I'm not hopeful anymore. I know I missed my chance to make sense in this world. But I'm not sorry I tried, for whatever that is worth. This isn't a decision we need to rush into, but it's also not one we should feel bad about. It just is.

It sounds like you're not really sold on living but also not on CTBing. Maybe try to take some time to figure out which one is it after all. It doesn't seem like your life is fucked up beyond saving in any way thus far and great things could and are not particularly unlikely to still happen. Obviously I don't know the details of your situation, it's just what I gathered from what you wrote.

Wishing you all the best, whatever you end up deciding is the right path for you.

Being married to the wrong person (a person whom you are incompatible) with is worst than being alone for sure. I was just like you and I never wanted to get married for the sake of getting married but my life was a chaotic mess due to my toxic and controlling family dynamics and undiagnosed Autism and I had no choice and had to end up getting into a kind of married life which I didn't want to take part of and now I'm suffering because of it. I notice the same toxic and dysfunctional dynamics in his own family and I hate that I had gotten into another version of my toxic family and it makes me wish that I should find a way to kill myself sooner to escape from this mental pain and suffering.

I don't think this is stupid at all! I feel similarly, and desperately want kids which I could never financially/time wise raise on my own. My friend is madly in love with this guy who is pretty abusive, and as fucked up as it is, sometimes I understand her because of how hard it is to be alone. She made the calculation and would rather be screamed at and shoved than be in my position, which makes me feel so pathetic and sad. At the same time tho, it depresses me how shitty most relationships like hers are, and what women will put up with in general (I'm a girl too). Makes me feel like there's no point in trying, and because of how alone and directionless I feel, I would be soo easy for an abusive person to manipulate so it kinda makes me just wanna die.

Suicide doesn't need an explainable reason. You only need to want it. It is your right.
