• Hey Guest,

We wanted to share a quick update with the community.

Our public expense ledger is now live, allowing anyone to see how donations are used to support the ongoing operation of the site.

Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

If you value the community and would like to help support its continued operation, donations are greatly appreciated. If you wish to donate via Bank Transfer or other options, please open a ticket.

I understand why censoring may be beneficial for now.

However, my one concern about censoring discussion of methods is that many of us come here during moments of crisis and are understandably emotionally dysregulated - so we may all have moments where we experience difficulty censoring discussion of methods, as it may just "slip out." Could we all be mindful and lenient of this as we transition, given how quickly we need to make this adjustment?

A question I have, is what constitutes discussing methods? For example, would discussing a drug using an abbreviation such as F within a context that alludes to recreational use and not ctb, per say, be acceptable? (e.g., "I can't wait to receive my F so I can just pass out"). I assume this would be okay since one is not explicitly referring to it as a suicide method.

I hope this post doesn't come off as critical of these changes - my intention is for us to consider ways in which we can be mindful of how our own highly intense emotional states might occasionally interfere with all of us adjusting to these changes.

I'm pretty sure they're just banning all posts with the 'method' prefix. And other posts with the same type even if the prefix isn't given. You raise a good point though.

Maybe have a separate private forum to discuss methods. A big reason why people join is to research peaceful and reliable methods. People are going to ctb regardless but without access to information they will opt for dangerous and risky methods. That is how people end up crippled and disfigured.

As far as the courts go, the site can't possibly have the financial resources to match those who are against this site. Also, some countries have different laws. Trying to adapt the site so that we can avoid trouble and save what we can seems like a reasonable strategy.

I am bipolar 1. I'm depressed all the time and manic for a month a year over time. I've tried to ctb so many times and failed that I'd given up hope of ever being able to. Bc of the nyt article I found this community and began to feel peace knowing that when I really do decide to ctb I was learning how to do it finally and peacefully. And now the forced lifers are running everything.

Going forward, I see a lot of conversations happening in private chat and PM's. Threads are basically going to be "can someone pm/chat with me. I need help..."

Would talk about organisations that provide assisted euthanasia count as talk about methods?

As an aside, I'm new to here and these kinds of forums generally. If anyone could spare a moment to give me a clue what some of all the abbreviations mean I'd be really grateful, thank you.

Hi. I'm really new, but I've spent most days since I found this site reading on it. I know a few abbreviations, but I'm afraid I'm bugging you and that others have already helped you better than I could. Have you gotten any help?

I tried recently to write a post and it said no talking about methods for now. I don't know if now means 'now' or now means don't talk about methods permanently. It is a damn shame how the media and its unfair reporting of this site has put pressure on the moderators. I don't know if this site will ever be the same but the pro life mob definitely want to silence us.

I think "now" means "until further notice". At least, that's what the announcement about the new rule stated.
