My debt finally caught up to me and bit me in the ass

I lived for a decade on lowest financial help in my country. I could barely get by. I had to borrow money from my a few family members every month to eat.
I have made a lot of poor decisions though. Not trying to make excuses.
I did buy cigarettes and weed every month still.
Being poor gets expensive
I've gotten so many fines from trains that have just added up, because I needed to travel, but I would rather eat that buy a train ticket
Even when I worked, I was on hourly salary in a supermarket, and I sitll couldn't afford train tickets.
And then ofc the public humiliation of getting fines in the trains wasn't exactly nice either
That's just one example.
Loans taken etc
I definetly did not live responsibly
Even though there's something wrong with me that doesn't make me able to function like normal human beings, I'm not trying to say the way I lived didn't land me in this situation. It certainly did.
But I didn't remain on such a low financial help, that was so low I couldn't afford to live properly, for fun
And only way later I got my disability
And at first it was such a relief with higher income. Still is nice.
But oh boy .. From one moment to another, all the debt collectors came hunting me like a hawk
I live in constant fear of these court appointments and now debt collectors are coming in 2 days to my house
A very nice letter that said stuff like that they come and I pay them showing up. If I don't open up, they will get a locksmith and I will pay the bill.
I have tried cooperating and starting monthly debt payments
But as soon as I start one, another one is required.
I am getting so sick and tired.
But the worst part is just the constant fear of letters and someone just standing in my apartment suddenly
It can happen, since I'm very bad at reading my mail. I have some mental issues regarding this. It would take long time to explain, but I am not always capable of dealing with all this administrive stuff.
I wrote a long letter to place I can reach out regarding this
I let them know the effect they were having on me
I damn near told me they were making me suicidal, but I resisted
I am hoping I can get my debt erased
I have never had the energy to deal with trying it
And I always figured it would probably just get rejected
But I've had it

It's a pain in the ass, and it's going to happen to me very soon too. the best way to go around it is remove the objects such as phone, computer, things you cannot live without and have some value out of your property/vehicles. Don't try fighting the debt collectors, if they have legal right to be there, they'll be there. Your better off working them as they will work with you and have more sympathy.

If your country supports it look into debt reconciliation, speaking to the finance companies or possible bankruptcy.

I'm not sure if you're in the UK, conceivably you could be by the way you write and your situation, but if you are there are lots of ways to both prevent the debt officers from taking stuff and getting a workable payment plan in place. Ask your favourite LLM to suggest you a way forward

It's a pain in the ass, and it's going to happen to me very soon too. the best way to go around it is remove the objects such as phone, computer, things you cannot live without and have some value out of your property/vehicles. I don't have many things of value. I have a gaming PC .. That was a bit expensive. Has an RTX 5070, rest is pretty budget though.
It's over a year old though and used, so it's not like it's super valuable.
If they take it, I hope I can at least convince them to just take the graphics card lol
Other than that, it's just electronics that probably wouldn't be much point in trying to re sell
I'm not sure they can resell the mobile airdonditioner I got this summer in the unbearable heatwave
I have a very budget TV, very budget phone
I have a meta quest 3s
Another PC that doesn't turn on
No cars, no jewelry
That's about it for material things

The only thing I have is that I got some money from when my dad passed away.
I have set my mind on at this point that they are probably going to take it all. It's not a fortune.
Maybe like 13k $
I hope I can at least convnce them to leave me some kind of buffer

They are already witholding a percentage of my money each month. So I thought that was it.
No attempts made to reach out to me about stuff. Just suddenly a very threatening letter that they will show up and I will pay for it and blablabla

I got a letter that they would be here on the 28th
I was cleaning apartment, making sure to try and turn around my sleeping rhytm to accomedate them coming the 28th

I just noticed I got a letter "we knocked on your door but no one answered, we have contacted your bank and ..."

They came on the 25th .. I was sleeping, because like I said. I wasn't expecting anybody and was turning around my sleeping rhtym so I could be awake when they came.

And .. they left me with like 300$

All my money gone

I hope I can get by next month. I don't know if my rent is too high. I guess I'll find out

But yeah. I double checked like 10 times
They made a mistake
