• Hey Guest,

We wanted to share a quick update with the community.

Our public expense ledger is now live, allowing anyone to see how donations are used to support the ongoing operation of the site.

Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

If you value the community and would like to help support its continued operation, donations are greatly appreciated. If you wish to donate via Bank Transfer or other options, please open a ticket.

My dad told me when he was in the Navy on the ship he had a roommate who hung himself while they were sleeping. The sound of him thrashing woke up the other roommates and they rushed to lift him up and stop him from dying. He ended up okay

And apparently this happened again with a different roommate. How common is it to be suicidal in the Navy? I thought it was just Army.

Was this in port or during deployment? Don't think it would be uncommon if you were stuck on a ship out in the ocean, for months on end.

During deployment for the first one. I'm not sure about the second.
I'm sure it was tough on all of them.

It is definitely something that tests someone's resilience.

Sorry if my comment appeared hostile by the way, I never think before I post my replies. Then I read my own comments again and realise they can be interpreted in very different ways from what I intended.

suicides amongst active duty and veterans are unfortunately relatively common compared to general population - it's stressful (understatement of the millenium) and half the population hates you at any given moment because politics

What I find astonishing is the lad went for a rope when they all have access to firearms…

Why would you think that sailors carry guns while on the ship. They have no enemy to shoot at, only themselves.
