Bit self conscious about posting a bunch, but I have a lot of time to fill and music has always filled a lot of it, I have a bunch.

The National is what I have heard referred to accurately as, "Sad Dad Rock". Been a fan ever since I heard their song, "Exile Vilify," featured in Portal 2 (love that song too). He sings this song with real weight and pain and a sense of tiredness, a man who wants love, feels it very intensely, and yet is immensely worn by the lack of it, whether you read it romantically or not.

Always been a fan of Incubus but this is a song that always struck me deeply. The song plays with an electric somberness, relating the sadness of knowing how painful and cold the world is, even as the chorus and other lyrics tell you there is good in life that is worth experiencing before you go. Another that's always felt like it spoke to me directly.

It's another sad one. Middle Class Rut, mostly known for an inventive and dirty approach to rock (highly recommend, "No Sale," and, "Busy Being Born") here has a much softer touch, arguably their most mellow and sad track. I've listened to it a few times this year, the words very much in line with how I'm feeling,

Interpol is a quintessential alternative rock group heavy on the symbolism. The singer's flat but melodic tones and focus on poeticism makes many of their songs easy to read many meanings into, but is not so broad as to have none of their own.

Gonna be a music day for me I guess. Extremely underrated, The Flashbulb has a ton of contemplative instrumental tracks mixing unique traditional instruments and augmenting with a lot of electronic tools and traditions. Tracks build and grow without losing their mood. "Miles and Miles" is another favorite track, if you want want one of their tracks to surprise you

That's one of my favorites! I love Lost Dog Street Band, that whole album is great.
