Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

If you value the community and would like to help support its continued operation, donations are greatly appreciated. If you wish to donate via Bank Transfer or other options, please open a ticket.

Reminder that these are only people suffering from an incurable physical condition. MAID laws in Canada do not apply to people with mental illnesses or who want to die without having any reason the system deems sufficient.

They will provide MAID for mental problems next year, 2023. This is new but progressing in the right direction. Canadians are lucky ones, MAiD makes system of living slightly better than previous or other unfortunate countries.

I envy them. They cannot suffer anymore and they got to die peacefully without having to worry about the fear of the method failing. We all deserve the option of a medically assisted death. Rest in peace all those who have left this world.

I'm so jealous of terminally ill people in countries that sanction assisted death.

Can you imagine what the numbers would be if we had a universal right to die for any or no reason? I think the numbers would be staggering.

I saw a fundraiser for someone going to MAiD in Canada because they are disabled and poor. People were trying to help as they felt so sorry for her. I was sitting there envious she had a humane option. We really are all in totally different realities. It's the 6th leading cause of death in Canada now.

Wish I was one of them. I have a chronic pain condition though my mental issues could be seen as more.prominent. It's moot because I am not Canadian though.

I'm hopeful but suspicious of how it will work. It might be available, but inaccessible or only accessible for people who have tried near everything else first. I wouldn't be surprised if they just won't provide it for people under 40. Regardless it'll still be steps in the right direction, but it might not work out to exist in the capacity it's supposed to. I really hope I'm wrong, but I can't shake doubting whether it will actually be accessible.

There will definitely be a lot of safeguards in place and you'll probably need an extensive psychiatric history as well. I'm frustrated because I would wait till next year and apply. I feel fairly positive I'd get apporved. If not, then back to DIY like it always has been.

The report seems to include people who felt lonely, isolated, dysfunctional amongst other reasons.

I havw the impression those were just additional reasons for a primary reason of physical illness.
