• Hey Guest,

We wanted to share a quick update with the community.

Our public expense ledger is now live, allowing anyone to see how donations are used to support the ongoing operation of the site.

Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

If you value the community and would like to help support its continued operation, donations are greatly appreciated. If you wish to donate via Bank Transfer or other options, please open a ticket.

I read the comments on a mindfulness video and think there must be something so wrong with me. Just feel alienated as the odd one out. I genuinely think everyone is psychotic for being so impacted by it - I think it is so dumb in such a triggering way. I just feels worse and get angry listening to it. Feels like such middle class waspy bullshit.

I've studied the topic for decades and I still can't do it. I've concluded that not all minds are created equal in this regard.

I can't believe people find any value in that stuff.

The same band-aid that saves the day in one situation will be worse than useless in the event of a major laceration.

The concept of mindfulness is neither new, nor "middle class". Mindfulness is the cornerstone of Buddhism, and it basically means awareness without judgement of whatever is going on right now. A seemingly simple, yet very difficult skill to master.

While I understand that the practice of mindfulness might seem like a modern gimmick for someone who is oblivious of its long history, that is not true.

Mindfulness has been practised for more than 2000 years and it originated in South Asia (nothing "waspy" about that).

I've tried, and I think it is really helpful to those that can develop those skills. I am not one of those people.

I agree it is a Band-Aid for people whose wounds go deep. It doesn't touch the root of the pain, so the pain will survive most attempts at more surface level mitigations of symptoms derived from that deeper place.
