idk which forum to post this on so im here. i wanna make myself vomit rn to get rid of some stress but i have no idea how, i have a really good gag reflex so its not really working, any advice?

Why do you think inducing vomiting will be stress-relieving? What else have you tried to alleviate stress?

I agree ^^ I can tell you conclusively that vomiting is a stressor on the body -- I had bulimia for several years. Vomiting doesn't take the stress away; stress involves a lot of biological responses and neurochemicals... inducing vomiting does not ameliorate that.

I used to make myself vomit as a stress reliever but I can't do it anymore, it works for me as a distraction. I've tried exercising too which is obviously the better option but my stress is so intense vomiting just makes it feel like its coming out of my body idk

I know the feeling - the physical catharsis soothes in a way none other can. It sucks when you lose a coping mechanism that worked for you. Long term though, it's better for you not to self induce vomiting. Although I recognise that not everyone here considers or cares about the long term.

When I could bring myself to do it, going on a long run (10km+ or maybe I just have low standards and am out of shape) until my legs were jelly, then taking an ice cold shower helped.

If I didn't have the energy or motivation to exercise sober, enough stimulants would change that. Not that I recommend developing substance use problems either. Just sharing what I've done that has helped me.

While throwing up may feel like its relieving the stress in the moment, in the long run it will jus create more stress (says as someone with |eating disorders and a fucked up stomach bc of purging)

I don't recommend doing that. Have you considered taking medication? It works for me.

I have no solution for you, I would just like to offer sympathy. I have tried and always failed to make myself vomit. I am sure it is for the best, but it also sucks...
