The PPH book recommends not to lay, cause it might cause CO2 not going out of bag, which might bring you panic attack causing failed ctb.

When you sit,CO2 is pushed my Nitrogen down to the neck,no panic attacks.

BUT I SAW PICS OF DEAD PEOPLE LYING IN BED WITH EXIT BAG,there is even a case when a dude filmed his suicide, police report says he died in like 5 mins without any panic attacks.

It really doesn't matter much, use your head a bit. Sitting upright in a chair is more reliable, but laying down is more comfortable... Your know, for the minute you would be awake. I'd say sit in a chair head tilted slightly up so dead weight doesn't mess anything up.
