lethality of methods

This is a stupid question but.... how was lethality calculated (I know it says according to pathologists)? Since there are so many failures, it is hard to believe that methods can be successful like drowning 63% or hanging 89%.... of attempted times.

I think these numbers are just an estimate. I don't believe that all failed attempts and all successful suicides are registered anywhere.

Esp with methods like shotgun 2 head. If it was successful, u can't ask the person to rank the pain to death but u could timelapse their passing. It's just a 'common sense' I think rank table to give one a ballpark estimate what u might expect if I took that route.

Sadly, I've carefully re-read Lost all Hope Statistics, and they are from 1995 -- back before the prevalence of catalytic converters -- so the 75% Co success rate is way out of date. Recent stats seem to show CO success rate much, much lower -- if I can find a link again, I'll post it.

LAH stats are bullshit, shotgun is 99%? Really? sure if like you aim it perfect and dont shake or have any SI etc etc etc, we have all seen failed shotgun suicides and how awful they are, hanging is another one, i think hanging is more like >70% but again, to put an actual percent like he does is just conjecture, i dont think they are far off but i dont like how he picks actual percentages as if they are gold, and some are def off

Shotgun to the head has 99%+ certainty. It's a good method if you have access

All methods require some planning and a lot of commitment. A shotgun will get the job done unless you go at it with less that a full commitment or impaired. That is how you fail. Life is bad after that.
