Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

If you value the community and would like to help support its continued operation, donations are greatly appreciated. If you wish to donate via Bank Transfer or other options, please open a ticket.

I know, maybe I care too much what other people think but… how important is it to leave a note?

Do you think it's important to explain why you did it? Or just more important to do it.

Also, would it be better to send a scheduled email to my friend with instructions, eg. 10 days after? What's a good time frame?

Since there's no will, my stuff will go to family members. I doubt they'd want it and I'd like it to go to friends instead. Since I won't have a will, I was thinking of just writing my closest friend my final message with goodbyes and instructions.

Would love thoughts.
I have no partner, kids or pets just friends and family.

It's funny but I always wished things were different and more dignified or organised than this but this is how it is. I wasn't even going to leave a note originally. It's the ego talking anyway. But, I have collected some cool stuff over the years and I'd feel sad if no one got it. Maybe that's vain though.

Leaving a scheduled email meant to go out after you're sure you should be gone might be a good idea. Also if you do follow through with an attempt and leave a note definitely leave any instructions of what you want done with your body and possessions in the note since (most of the time) family will generally follow those wishes. No one wants to be the asshole that is disrespecting the dead.

I'd also actually recommend sending the note to some relevant family members of yours, just so they don't try and accuse your friend of lying and have no doubts that it was from you, just as a sort of precaution, even if you give these family members nothing more than a token mention in the note itself.

Only you can decide what's most important to you in that matter. Some people want to be forgotten entirely and don't care about their body, so they leave no note behind.

Fair enough!
I don't intend on any blame at all

Yeah, I sometimes think about this too. It's good to keep things simple.

I feel like only you can decide if you should leave a note, it is a personal thing. I think that personally I would choose to leave a note so those left behind are not left with unanswered questions and it may give them some closure in a way. I wish you the best in whatever happens.

I would want to leave a note. People who have passed away in my family (although, not from suicide) have left me notes and they have been a great source of comfort for me.

Not that I suppose you can explain the decision to a non suicidal person but I would want them to know that I did love them but just couldn't hang on any longer and that there's nothing they could have done to help.
