My ex- girlfriend, she is talking nuts and that she is jumping from a bridge because 'men' are saying she had to jump to get to 'a new place'. She is psychotic and probably has dissociative identity disorder. I don't know what to do. So in case she jumped, and survived somehow, will there be a permanent damage? I don't have time to do research so I am asking all of you here. What should I do? I don't want to see her getting paralysed or something like that. Help?

Jumping isn't a reliable method and many have failed it and could end up with permanent damage for sure.
Not exactly true. It depends on how high you are and how you land. Yes, i know skydivers have survived a parachute failure, but most of the time they don't. Jumping from a high enough bridge into water will likely do the trick if you aren't rescued quickly. Even if the initial fall is survived you might get knocked unconscious and drown.

Here are results from a pig being dropped onto both pavement and water from 600ft. (182m) In both cases, the pig lands on its side. Definitely fatal in either case.

A bit of relative data is available from one of the books in the Resource Section.

The author, a doctor, explains why the biggest cauee of failure is insufficient height. His conclusion at the end of the section is falls from 150 feet on land and 250 on water are responsible for 95 to 98% of fatalities (not respectively, but equally for both).
Most jumps however, are shown to be from 20 to 50 feet, which probably account for most failures.
Make sure you don't flip too much in air, wear clothing which may get stuck in the way of trajectory, or act as a cushion/safety net/parachute, for example dresses for women, or baggy clothes.

I know you posted for an illustration, but they dropped off at the same height. It wasn't a fatality in the second case? 16 fractures sounds like a painful time agonising, alone and without help, in terrible pain. There was no decap on the second attempt.

Thanks for putting out, I always thought a landing on one's spine/ back of neck was best (nobody ever talks about it, I must be stupid and wrong), but interestingly, landing on the side works.

And btw, in case ye didn't know it, Grant died. Good-natured guy, very bad.

People go to the Golden Gate Bridge to "guarantee" death and even then its not guaranteed. Most likely crippled, paralyzed, brain damaged, paraplegic etc.

If ex-gf is in psychotic/dissociative episode, then likely not rational/in control and needing treatment. Advise calling professional help.

Honestly 99% of people who jump from the golden gate bridge ctb, the problem is that jumping here is almost impossible- police swarm any single people here or people looking distressed, and next year the net will likely be finished. If I could jump here I would, it's the easiiest method I know off- 4 seconds and then a 99% chance of ctb.

Hmm. Now this is amusing, troll.

Could they be saying it in sarcasm as in, she has to jump to get a "new place" - meaning an asylum, or a living situation, or out of her body as in dead?

Wouldn't it be obvious that if the person jumps and survives, there could be serious injury? Broken bones, the possibility of permanently paralyzed and stuck in a wheelchair for life?

It would also depend on the height and the impact of the fall.

Help? With what? Why don't you help her understand the consequences of doing so? And otherwise, so be it I guess.

It depends a lot on the height and the landing surface. Research on the internet cae help.
