But the OP wants to die, not just become unconscious.Eventually .... plus it takes much longer to lose consciousness.
When I tightened the ligature around my throat it cut off my breathing. I could only take in a very small amount of air and my breathing was very shallow. Can you die this way or does your airway need to be completely blocked? Do i need to tighten the ligature more? But the OP wants to die, not just become unconscious.
Do I need to move the ligature to a different place? Higher up on neck? When I tightened the ligature around my throat it cut off my breathing. Do you have a homemade tourniquet or did you buy one ? I still don´t agree with the other users, especially if you want a quick death as peaceful as possible. When I tightened the ligature around my throat it cut off my breathing. Jup, this is what happens when you make it a poll. I suspect you do not care what "the people think" about this. If you want actual information, I suggest the resources pinned on top of this forum.Ok I got a yes and a no answer. Anyone else?
No, you cannot die this way. I hope you do not need to suffer this way, either. When I tightened the ligature around my throat it cut off my breathing. Again, many many guides on hanging around. Even wikipedia has them, if you look carefully.Do I need to move the ligature to a different place? Higher up on neck?
I have looked and always find conflicting information in the comments that make me unsure. I just don't want another failed attempt. I do care what people say. I just wish it was either a yes or a no and not both answers. Sorry :(Jup, this is what happens when you make it a poll. I suspect you do not care what "the people think" about this. You might be able to kill yourself by blocking your airway completely. The resources do not suggest to do this.

OkTo clarify once again. The carotid method does not mean blocking breathing, but blocking the carotid artery.
Thank you for the information. It did help me understand better.Maybe these photos explain it better:

The carotid artery is deaper inside. The jugular vein (internal and external) is further out and partly covers the carotid artery. This means that you need more pressure to compress not only the jugular vein, but also the carotid artery.
If the tourniquet is placed directly under the chin, there should be no breathing problems.
