Friend of mine calls me yesterday, then comes by last night, and we sat there drinking beer and bullshitting.

Subjects ranged from weather to everything else, and the final subject was the suicide of someone who had jumped from a bridge.

So the conversation went on and he looks at me and says that he knows I'm still having issues and that my suicidal thoughts are always there.

I agreed with him and said yep, eventually I will kill myself and not have any remorse about doing so.

So now the argument escalates. He is doing the "good samaritan" role of trying to save me. To which he knows he ultimately failed.

Now comes the "You just can't fix stupid" part....

He gets pissed off, chugs down rest of beer and slams bottle on table and says,

"I SWEAR TO GOD MAN, IF YOU KILL YOURSELF, I WILL NEVER TALK TO YOU AGAIN..."


All I could do was a smack my head against the wall.... It took everything I had to keep from laughing at him.

Perhaps he means he won't interact with you through a medium if you decide to communicate through from the other side....

I don't know the person, so idk their sense of humor. It was either an absent minded statement, or perhaps a joke to lighten the mood, like @Lethe said. But I would have had the same reaction; in fact I may have actually laughed. Depends on how serious the friend was. I don't let ANYONE in my life know just how bad I'm doing (tho it's really not hard to notice if you just pay attention).

Aw, damn. I'm sorry. I guess I don't have any close friends like that anymore (did i ever tho?). Well, that certainly wasn't very caring or sensitive of him. That interaction would have had me really upset afterwards.. hate people just getting pissed and leaving. I feel so confused afterwards.

My best friend has warned me that if I CTB she will kill herself so she can kill me. Very sweet and hilarious. She is being quite serious which makes it even funnier

He wanted to say "if you try to kill yourself". But you used "will" verbiage throughout, conditioning him to say "if you will kill yourself " instead.
