As I read through responses on this site I've been finding the use of 'bro' and 'buddy' as a pronoun. Does this get under anybody else's skin? Does it feel like irritating sarcasm to you? Or am I just so fed up with people I'm projecting?
What you think, buddy?

P.S. I hate when people call me bro or buddy in life as well. I feel these terms are used to demean.

i think it depends on how its being used "hey bro/bud, whats up" is cool. but sometimes it can be used in a demeaning tone. and thats probably the biggest problem, you cant read tone from messages if there arent enough supporting words so its difficult for one to really know if they mean it in a cool way or not

As an ending.
One of the direct quotes I say: "Maybe you should try therapy, bro."

I saw one where the sentence was similar but it ended with buddy instead of bro. As an ending...I understand how it's used as endearment. I generalized, I'll admit.
It often reads like condescension. Or maybe I'm just touchy today. It irritated me for the person who posted the thread, felt like dismissal.

I don't think it's a problem if it's meant to be endearing. But especially bro can be used demeaningly. I just say buddy sometimes

It certainly is irritating sarcasm and it's beyond annoying. I've always hated sarcasm. I think that in general I'm tired of people. There are often trolls on this website and the way that people often behave makes me want to leave this world even more.

I guess if their statements are passive/agressive it could seem offensive. Other than that, no. Nothing anyone says bothers me. I've had quite a few awkward responses on my posts. I just read it and move on. We say friend, kid, bubba and a few other things where I'm from. Not so much "bro." I just take into consideration people are from different places, raised differently and grow up around certain lingo. If their statement isn't an attack on me than I don't see anything wrong with their cultures common closure.

It's not a pronoun ("I," "you," and "it" are all pronouns for example) but I know some people also find it insulting to be called that if they arent men

It doesn't bother me. I have probably used it before. Not lately that I remember. I think it may have something to do with how long a member has been here or how I relate to them.

I thought that I was the queen of sarcasm but I never noticed. Maybe it sounds a bit undignified to use bro? British people say mate and it sounds fancy.

I can think of worse. Damn I'm told so much worse...

After being called mentally insane when calling for help about physical pain... And called a liar by cops after assault... I'd gladly be called buddy. I know a dog named that way. I still don't mind.

Maybe reply: "call me Queen C*nt, peasants! How dare you assume gender!" 🤣 See, I can think of worse.
