  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

caught myself thinking about this phrase today. people always say that to you when you say you're depressed and suicidal.. "just keep going!! it gets better!!"
been awhile since i had a serious attempt, and i think i would be happier if my attempt hadn't failed then. i wouldn't mind dying then or now.

sometimes i come across other suicidal/depressed people and i'm always not very sure how to be supportive, i've been quite awkward sometimes. I feel like i should be honest, but i also am not going to motivate a person to kill themselves lol. i honestly don't think "it gets better" is realistic for most.

I don't think i should motivate someone to stay alive when they'll probably just prolongate their sufferring more, like i did. but what the hell else could you say?

maybe this site is damaging my brain ripz

Honestly I tend to say that phrase a lot but I feel like it should have an addendum to it.
"It gets better... But unfortunately it's going to take everything you got to accept the way things are and to make a living out of it".

I'm 33 and I've been depressed probably since the day I was born. The last thing you want to tell someone who's depressed is they might have a couple of bad years before they have one good year. But the truth is we kind of self-sabotaged by keeping the option of suicide open. If we didn't have the potential to just rage quit and we were forced to play this game we probably be a lot more likely to build a higher quality life.

Things will get better. But it's up to you to keep that ball rolling once it does. *Flicks your nose*
You're Your own worst bully and your your own best Ally. Remember that.

Honestly I think saying 'it gets better' can cause more harm than good. If someone believes that and tries medication and therapy and whatever else and none of it works that will probably push them to the edge. Even if they weren't so suicidal that they would make an attempt before after trying everything and realizing for them it doesn't get better they may be more likely to make an attempt. It's hard to give hope to people who have had their hope shattered again and again.
