Is this forum dying?

We experience less and less traffic. Many people are annoyed about repetitive elements or other reasons. Years ago I was in another suicide forum it is now dead. Not sure if this is a seasonal effect or a longterm development. Can we do something against that or is it unavoidable. I don't want to lose this forum...

It's summer! people are on vacation, family members are closer at hand, they're getting vitamin d and feel less suicidal (lol), etc. Also I think a lot of major posters have retired and people are continuing to ctb or log off forever. I think SS will be around for awhile still, no worries.

There are some repetitive things i also notice. I dont know is it because people dont use search function or what.
Also some people experience similar things and thoughts thus posting similar things.


Most importantly the topic here is only about suicide. Its really limited what you can talk about on that matter thus same thing being talked about repeatedly.

Theres not even a discussion about methods anymore. Mostly only about SN.

I admit it is a similar thread. Lol. But there is not the main question if the days of this forum are numbered.

I don't think this forum is dying really, I just think there is bound to be quieter times in a place like this. Members ctb and leave this site very frequently, for example many people just come here to get method information and then leave. There will always be a need for a forum like this.

@noname223 I do agree. If you're not down with the SN method here you're not going to get much advice. If anything your chosen method will be immediately shunned and SN will be injected. But regardless, I do like everyone here and enjoy the variety of personalities. I enjoy reading over everyone's input and seeing the support that comes together from all walks of life here.

the forum probably experienced a surge during the peak of the pandemic and we're slowly coming back down to pre-2020 traffic.

you know when people say lurkers how's that work, i know my posts personally are only available for members to see. Seen as i have never made that selection myself, i assume it is default? do people actually change the settings so anyone can see there posts, seems weird lol

It's because many people here refuse to use the search feature and when you point it out to them, they get assblasted.

Yeah, it definitely feels like there's less activity.
Almost no comments and interactions, some prominent members are taking a break or gone, and not many people join.

Only time will tell if this is the beginning of the decline.

Well, something along the lines of 60k threads have been made so that likely contributes to things being repetitive a fair amount. Membership has also changed a fair amount, the membership in 2019 to now is quite different looking around a bit. Just a natural side effect of a forum and the suicide aspect. There's also not too much to discuss, most of the methods have been figured out at this point short of wanting something obscure and not well researched for personal reasons. I imagine many of the members also just join to bookmark methods or the novelty of a suicide forum, if you look around out of boredom at new members accepted the vast majority don't even bother setting a profile picture and you won't really see them posting. Which, I don't think there is a problem with inherently personally but can obviously be a contributing factor.

Yeah, it is like many have already pointed out, there just isn't much left that hasn't been covered already as far as suicide is concerned. Saying that it is still a great forum and you can vent out things you might not be able to discuss with anybody else.

This is my theory, SS works thanks to the Xenforo software, it is a great software but at the same time it becomes uncomfortable when your site reaches thousands and thousands of users, my theory is that the SS staff does not accept many members for fear that site servers get full, and in the event that staff use Xenforo Nulled spam can be a big problem, have someone from staff correct me if I'm wrong
