• Hey Guest,

We wanted to share a quick update with the community.

Our public expense ledger is now live, allowing anyone to see how donations are used to support the ongoing operation of the site.

Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

If you value the community and would like to help support its continued operation, donations are greatly appreciated. If you wish to donate via Bank Transfer or other options, please open a ticket.

Yes I am doing therapy and currently planning. I suppose that must mean I am wasting her time, but she is a nice person and I like her company.

I tried therapy a few times over the last decade, but it made things worse, not better, so decided to stop.

I think a good majority of people in SS are or have been to therapy. Its evidence of the fact that therapy doesn't work and the profession is a shit-farce. Most therapists are not well-trained enough or don't give a shit. Most are tired of listening to the stories and the patients are equally tired of hearing the same babble that doesn't work.

I've seen therapists for varying spans including multi-year stints and I'm done with the shit. My current therapist admits the industry sucks. It's my therapists' 2nd career so she is really putting in the work. Despite her efforts however I'm still screwed.

I'm in therapy and going to start on Zoloft in a few days (first time on meds)

Therapy has helped just for the fact that I have someone to talk to. I have social anxiety disorder so sometimes I literally talk to no one except my immediate family and my therapist (at school, just my therapist). Also, it's only in therapy where i'm able to talk about my issues with anxiety and suicidal ideation. My family doesn't believe in it which sucks so I don't tell them.

Anyways I have been in recovery for a long time but not able to consistently get professional treatment. I think it's good to give an evidenced-based therapy like CBT or controlled exposure and meds an earnest chance since a lot of people can benefit more than they think. I'm not sure if meds will be the solution for me, but if my physical anxiety symptoms can go away I think I'll be able to hold on for a little more.

However when you have severe mental illness that's lasted for pretty much your entire life, there's not only the symptoms of the illness to deal with but also the consequences. I had a lot of dreams as a kid that I gave up because of my illness. I'm behind in social skills and development things like relationships, work, and independence. Plus there's the stigma. If meds don't work for me, I think there's no way I can overcome any of this, even if I think positively and try to do exposures. Your best does not get you jobs, it doesn't get you a happy family. You can have confidence in yourself but the way people treat you for being different can still make you sad and hurt you. I have the right to go so I will do it if the suffering is too much.

Yes, obviously she doesn't know this or she'd have me committed though. I am planning on trying a few other things first to see if they help my recovery

I've planned my own death while going to therapy and been pretty open about it.

As my psychologist said, it's pretty normal to want to keep control/autonomy when you feel you don't have control over your own life. One way is to plan your own death.

You seem to have a good psychologist, his point about the control is very true, I have lose the control because I know my life like it is today will not last for long.

Yes - I saw a counsellor for 6 sessions (I had seen her twice before for about 40 sessions). I told her what I intended to do and she agreed to keep my confidence. See my previous post

I am presently speaking with a different counsellor via Zoom - she of course has no idea how I am feeling.

I feel she understands me and we have some meaningful conversations.

I hope it gets better for you. Life can be hard but don't make any impulsive decision. Find a way to feel like you are in control of your life.
