Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

Is doing it on impulse actually better?

The dates I pick are often far off. But realizing I can just hop in my car and drive to the bridge any given day feels kinda liberating. It's several hours away though, which means time for regret unless I tell myself I'm just visiting the bridge.

I imagine it's easier when on impulse rather than setting a date. Whenever I set a date for anything I just keep pushing it back. If you feel like doing it I would just do it while you're in that mindset rather than wait for it.

Impulse is the way for me. Trying to specify time and date feels like pressure and anxiety and hesitation. Got my "kit" all assembled and ready to go. Just whenever, really. It feels great.

I feel like if someone tries to stick to a specific date then the SI is more likely to get in the way, so I do think that many people ctb on impulse when the pain of living gets to be unbearable and they cannot deal with any more suffering. However, I would personally only go through with ctb if I was confident that the method would succeed, I do not think that impulse ctb is the best idea if the method is not properly planned as there is a higher chance of failure. Ctb is very difficult after all.

It is an abbreviation for the survival instinct, which means that we are programmed to survive and live, it is the way we have evolved. It is why suicide is so difficult as our SI tries to stop us.

I absolutely dread the thought of suriving an attempt so for me the answer is a big no, I would want it to be well planned, but I am also a very cautious, deliberative, etc person so... kinda to be expected.
Neither does it help for me that the more reliable and impulsive methods also happen to be more violent.

This is kind of my plan too. Just give myself a few month-long window to go through with it.
I've tried setting a date a few times and the dread just get worse and worse until a few days beforehand when I call it off. Part of me is afraid I'll never go through with it if I just let myself keep putting it off for some unspecified time in the future, but it's not like setting a date helped much either.
yes impulse is important you need to be out of your mind. thats why im going to get my rope ready right before i check my grades so if they're bad i will be able to follow through bc i'll be so upset

I've done a lot of research on bridges and if a good option was close enough I would use it. The Golden Gate Bridge seems way too heavily patrolled for me, but something comparable would work- 220 feet into water has a 99% success rate. A few have survived this though, and at least one of these has posted on youtube about this. The height and the landing surface matter- a benefit of water is that drowning is a backup plan.
I'm beginning to think acting on impulse would be better. Especially now that I have a pretty reliable method. O think planning a date puts too much pressure on the whole act

It could be because at a certain time you may be more ready, but whether this would work well could depend on the method- would you want to share what method you are considering?
That sounds like the best method if you can get it, it's worth it to see if it ever fails based on posts to try to prevent a failure, but it seems like you are in good shape to find peace.

Yea I agree with the posters in this thread, have a general timeframe and a plan on how you are going to do it, but wait until you have one of those days taht you never want to have again and it will make it much easier to go through with it.

It's funny. Pro lifers say during such days that you should live because you'll miss out on a future day that goes well. But the bad days don't stop and they occur more frequently.
My mentality is - I've already decided I want to CTB despite existing hesitations that normally keep me from acting on it. So it's not true impulsivity, more like acting in an emotional state where I don't care about my normal hesitations. Possibly regrettable? Absolutely. Probably regrettable, even. But I don't care. The goal is to wind up dead, where (hopefully) there's no consciousness whatsoever.
