What are your guys' thoughts on CTB in a hotel room?

My general plan is:
1) Set up a chair just inside the door (not blocking it from opening, but impossible to miss when entering the room) with a big warning
2) Have the warning say that there's a body in the room and to leave immediately and call an ambulance/the police. Ideally that means that no random cleaner or manager has to happen upon me.
3) Book the room for 2 days and leave a "Do Not Disturb" sign on the door in hopes that by the time I'm found it'd be too late but I won't have made too much of a mess/smell.

The only other options I can think of for locations are:
1) In my car
Issues: I want to leave my car to my family, but they couldn't use it if they knew I died in it obviously
I don't really have anybody I can schedule to send a map to the location to (I couldn't do that to my family)
2) In the open somewhere secluded:
Issues: Once again, I don't really have anybody I can schedule to send a map to the location to (I couldn't do that to my family)
3) In my room/house:
Absolute non-starter. Not an option.

Curious what your guys' planned locations are? And what reasoning did you use to decide on the your location of choice?

I'm in Oz and I have decided on a remote cabin. You can book them on the internet and I think it would be a happy medium. I can relate to your title re concerns of fairness.

I have an SN order on the way. I'm trying to decide between taking it and lying down in the bed, or taking it and lying down in the bath. I guess it'll depend on how comfortable I can make the bath (maybe with pillows and duvets).

Ideally I'd like to strike a balance between comfort in my final moments and making it as easy as possible to clean up.

How about you?

Have you put thought into who you'd like to find you?

Here in Ireland there are options like that, but it'd be owned by some AirBnB host and that feels worse to make them deal with than a hotel worker/manager

Sorry, I tried to click into your profile to DM you but it doesn't seem to let me. Maybe because my account is too new.

My advice/hint would be to read the PPeH (you should read this if you're considering SN anyway) and look at the sources that it suggests.

As for lying in bed, that would probably be the most comfortable for me but I'm lucky enough to hold no ill-will against my family and so basically the most important aspect to me is impacting them as little as possible

So in a cabin it would be, as you say, an AirBnB host or perhaps the next user. However there would be less overall commotion because in a hotel you have all the other guests etc. the problem with hotels is that on one occassion the cleaners have come in even when I had the sign up to not disturb. You really need the remoteness and isolation.

Are you referring to the January 2025 version of the PPeH? I am unsure if there is a more recent version that I am not aware of.

Mine is a hotel room - I will say I am spending a couple nights in a hotel because they are painting my place and Can't deal with paint fumes - hotels are on alert for suicides
if not - just a hanging in the downstairs bathroom where I have practised a few times

I totally understand the worry. I guess with SN I'm assuming that as long as somebody doesn't find me almost right away that there's basically no chance it'll make any difference

Yep. Now fair warning, my SN hasn't arrived yet so no guarantee it's actually a good source, but if you follow the source link to the dead site, then go to the redirected 'new' site that's where I've ordered mine from.

I hadn't considered that the hotel might worry that I'll CBT and check in on me actually. I'm assuming that as long as I don't do anything to arouse suspicion and just act like a normal guy on some kind of business trip that they'll leave me alone

Your plan sounds good. It is also an option to send a timed email, so there's a delay in sending it. If you cancel the email before the time it's supposed to send, it doesn't go through.

I've never had a hotel desk attendant care why I'm checking in, ever. It's a customer service job, they deal with people all day every day. They don't have to seek out people who are gonna be a problem.

You would want to hope the SN kills quickly which according to cases in the pp handbook it generally does. But I will go with a remote cabin instead in case it takes longer. Even in hotels I have had police knocking on my door because of piss heads causing trouble etc. just a little too risky. Also too many people around. I want my final moments to be in peace.

Yeah I'm not too worried about somebody suspecting what I'll be there to do.

I've considered setting up a timed email to a police station nearby to alert them to my body after it's been long enough that I should be at peace. I just don't know of any mailing lists that would be actively monitored. Setting up an email to somebody I trust asking them to call the police anonymously would work, but unfortunately don't have anybody in my life I could ask to do that. Sending it to the hotel/front desk is also an option. I'll need to think more about this. Maybe an email is a better idea than my chair + warning idea actually.

That's totally fair. From what I've read I should be out in around 15 minutes with maybe some moaning and thrashing, so not too worried that I'll attract unwanted attention in a hotel. But to each their own, what ever makes you feel the most comfortable is what is the right decision

As somebody who has never camped in their life, a tent is definitely also a no no for me 😅

Hotel room. I'll have a messaged scheduled to send to the police with where I am and all the info they need to make it easier for them. I don't know how far I'll send it out for yet, I'm worried about having it sent to early and getting "saved," or having it sent too late causing family to be looking for me for hours.

I thought looking at a lake would be a nice way to go but my corpse may stay for weeks and stink out the campground ha ha.

I'm planning to do it in a hotel too. At least it won't impact a lot of people like on the rail tracks in front of the speeding train...

How do you send a scheduled message to the police? They don't take text messages and who knows how long it will take them to see an email.

I think I read for SN you need to wait 4-5 hours incase they try to resuscitate you and give methylene blue

Ethics-wise I think hotel is one of the best options, especially with the configuration you've planned out to prevent the housekeepers from seeing your body. Hotels know that this is something that happens and they plan for it, have protocols for it.

I think it's only for disabled people tho like deaf people, and they have to have registered for it beforehand..
