The only reason I'm not doing it tonight is that there's still a chance I might be hired for the job I want. But I will definitely know by the end of Monday if I've gotten it.
The job itself isn't what's so important to me. The thing is that I need a victory. I need someone to pick me over others, because I've been rejected constantly my whole life. I guess that's pretty pathetic, but It's what I'm feeling right now.
Anyway, I have my method and I'm just waiting to use it. Thanks for reading.
What job did you apply for? Do you have the proper qualifications to get the job? How do you think the interview went? Any gut feelings? Have you applied anywhere else?
Your feelings are not pathetic. They are just and valid, just like all of our own thoughts. The phrase "I need someone to pick me over others" really hits deep. It's more than just getting hired. And I totally get that. There is nothing wrong with your feelings. It can most definitely be a blow to your ego and self confidence when you don't get picked.
What I will say though, is that not being hired doesn't always have a straight forward formula. There could be a multitude of reasons why someone else gets picked, or why you didn't get picked. It could be something as simple as someone having an "in" because of someone they know. Or even the interviewer could be having a crap day and forgot specifics of your interview that would've otherwise gotten you the job had their day gone differently. I know it's hard not to beat yourself up if you don't get it, but try and remember that it's not always about you on why you weren't successful. For every job you don't get, there's plenty of jobs that you *can* get. And you never know, there could be a job right around the corner that you'd prefer more than this one. I think you owe it to yourself to find out. You deserve that for yourself.
Ultimately it is your choice, and no matter the outcome I support you. I just wanted to point out a few things that you might not have thought about. Regardless, my fingers and toes are crossed for you that you get the job. Much love, and good luck! Sending lots of good vibes your way!
