A friend here thought that my lack of reply by PM meant that I didn't want his friendship.

Please don't think that, at the edge of the abyss, we're all friends. I treasure your company.

Reasons I don't reply:

Not understanding the site, missing an alert.

Social phobia. All my PMs on reddit were about being banned from subs. It can take a while to check my alerts, so scared to be hated.

Sometimes I just want to binge reading other people's problems to distract me from my own. Too messed up & ashamed to reply my best friends by PM. Waiting until I feel able to give a toughtful reply.

Being dead?

Being in a psych ward?

Being outside enjoying life on a good healthy day, that I fear will never happen again, because my body & mind are beyond broken...

This forum sometimes does not send messages about responses, here I agree with you.
I am one of those people who are afraid of society in the offline world, and therefore most of the time I surf the Internet.

I don't always reply to PM's right away either. Sometimes I don't know what to say or I miss an alert.
I do try to respond if I can. Some things are private, especially now.
