I wonder if the majority of Americans are really conscious. If cbt is so easy, especially in republican states, why isn't more common?

SI is a bitch (sorry for the language), but it strikes the vast majority no matter where their feet stand on the globe,

I actually have guns - a 9 mm semi automatic and a rifle, and I am an excellent shot when shooting away from me (also have a Rottweiler - got her because I love the breed and for protection from my ex, but she is a big, lovable baby and I end up having to protect her instead of the other way around - funny enough).

Personally the reason I do not plan to use a gun is because I fear my hand will shake or I will miss the sweet spot and then survive with horrific consequences. Plus the mess left behind kinda skeeves me, even though realistically I know I may not have to deal with it or see it.

I think some people exist who don't actually want to ctb. I find it hard to believe really. Some people just have a lack of physical/mental disorders, and as humans we are programmed to survive and work through many problems we encounter in life. I think with guns, many people dislike the violence associated with it and SI can get in the way.

religion doesnt allow lgbt and sex outside marriage and cheating and hurting other and greedy and many other things(even lying) but still it thrives.

If religion can stop people doing what they want. The police shouldnt even exist.

But CTBing is a very big decision, there collective societal programming for hundreds of years is against Suicide works.

also being part of church/communities help. when you belong to something and believe working on higher purpose, you will put up with any issues life throws at you.

Yeah, but religion certainly plays a part in preventing people from killing themselves; if people in the poorer states were less religious, the suicide rates there would be even higher...

The vids of ppl surviving have put me off from this method. However if I can't go through with my set up using the exit bag/mask and I can't get a bottle of n I will consider it as an option along with jumping. But I really hate guns in general so it'll be hard to execute. I can see myself combining the two because i'm paranoid af just one method won't work.

I'm in the US and I have guns (shotgun, rifle, handgun). I don't think it matters what state you're in, if you can pass a background check, you can get a gun.

There are 2 reasons I don't want to use a gun (although sometimes the pain is so intense that I just want to reach over and grab a gun and end it) is because:
1. I don't want someone to find that mess and be traumatized for life.
2. My cousin killed himself with his father's gun when he was 18. He took the handgun, went out into a field and shot himself in the head (unsure of location). What he didn't know is that there was another kid in the field who witnessed this (and is probably traumatized for life). He called for medical help and my cousin was life flighted to the hospital, brain dead, where his parents had to make the decision to end life support. So shooting yourself in the head is not 100% successful.

Suicide is extremely taboo in Floridian/Texan culture. Like someone else said people think it reflects a "weak mentality". I have an old memory as a little kid of my grandfather remarking something along the lines of "people who kill themselves are idiots" because of some hum dum about not realizing how precious life is but it was so many years ago I can't quote it verbatim. but that basically sums it up.

Ive never lived in a country where guns were easy access to average population (unless you're a thug gangsta up for no good, btw I strongly recommend the movie City of God for those who'd like to see what I mean by that and watch a great movie at the same time lol), but if I had easy access to guns I wouldn't choose it as a method anyway.

I prefer non perforating, quiet methods, also I've heard guns they kinda "bounce back" when you shoot so you kinda need to know what you're doing when you pull the trigger and I never know what I'm doing


I'd go ideally drowning in the sea high on benzo+alcohol at night or going to nature and letting it do it's job since I wouldn't be able to survive for very long.

Realistic I'll go by partial, that's a very common method with high efficacy and very intuitive id say since people from all cultures/times/ages manage to cbt like this.

But people with imbalance in the brain have different mechanism that induce suicidal drive

I guess its a 'natural' drive too since there are many animals who self-destruct too as an instinct/defensive mechanism when theyre under stress/pressure, sick. Or maybe its malfunctioning, but still its nature-caused

Although in some cases suicide has a rational purpose.
But mostly people wanna 'numb' the pain. Suicide is an escapism due to feeling helpless in life. Same as alcohol, etc.

Like how when we play a game and it gets very hard and frustrating that we dont wanna play anymore. But in real life we cant just 'quit' like in game

The United States of America is supposed to value personal freedom and autonomy more than anything else, or so it is claimed by some. With this in mind you would think that there would not be too much of an issue with people wanting to end their own lives. You can greedily generate as much wealth as desired, because you have the freedom to do so; you do not have to help others, because you have the freedom to do so; you can own a firearm, because you have the freedom to do so; healthcare is not an entitlement, because why should you have to pay for somebody else? It is their problem.

It is confusing that a nation which promotes individualism and self-interest has a staunchly collectivist view of suicide.

This is true. Usually happens due to unemployment, family issues/divorces, drugs, etc. Many times it's military veterans CTB'ing with past mental trauma playing a part, and because for a country that claims to honor our troops so highly, we do woefully little to actually support them.
