I have depression, ocd and anger issues and I beat someone in a street fight today. I'm in my early 20s, dropped out of college, and now I'm going to get a criminal record. It's over! There are only two options for me in this situation, one is ctb and one I won't tell you because I don't want my account to be suspended.

Well, an assault conviction is not great, no. It's a barrier to a lot of things, but not everything.

At the moment you're panicking because you're in the shit. You'll get out of the shit eventually, though.

May I ask, were you charged with a crime, or you think you might?

I live in the U.S. and also each state has their own tweaks in laws, of course have an attorney go with you. I remember when I had my court fight about getting commented to a state-run mental health facility and even, thou I had a court appointed attorney, it still was like a chess game in so far as who would blink first.

Like in the U, S, a felony is not good but like a misdemeanor sometimes with a plea agreement can come off one's record after x years.

You are family here and I wish you the best. Was going to send you a private message but that is not available.

What's the difference between a felony and misdemeanour? We don't have those. Just crimes.

A criminal offense that is less serious than a felony and generally punishable by a fine, a jail term of up to a year, or both.

Penalties for an Assault Charge

Whether a state considers assault a separate crime from battery or not, all states and the federal government have laws that make it a crime. The threat's seriousness and the surrounding circumstances make the assault charge a felony or misdemeanor.

States divide assault into misdemeanors and felonies. A misdemeanor carries a potential jail term of less than one year. Felony offenses subject someone to imprisonment for a year or more.

An assault involving no weapon and no serious injury is likely a misdemeanor. Some states treat an assault as an infraction. Infractions are less serious offenses than misdemeanors. Infractions generally involve a fine or brief jail time.

You will likely be hit with a misdemeanor unless you seriously injured this person

A criminal charge is not the end of the world I know your early 20s it feels like it and it does affect your life to some degree but if you're worried you'll never be happy again this is not the case. Depending on the circumstances of what happened it's possible it'll be a misdemeanor like people said or some other result could happen from trial.

Ok so you fucked up, we all fuck up somewhere along the way. The best thing you can do with mistakes is learn from them. Why is a criminal record the end of the world? What you need to focus on now is what you can do to avoid it happening again. Are you getting any help for your issues? Do you want to get help for your issues? Your young and maybe with guidance and help you can turn this around, if that's what you want. If I had a pound for every time I fucked up I'd be able to pay someone to go out and fuck up for me. So your in good company.lol as for college, maybe your mind just isn't in the right place for learning right now, your over whelming yourself maybe. Slow it down and try to focus on one thing at a time.
