  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

Maybe I'm crazy etc but I want somewhere to feel safe. I don't want to argue with people over the smallest things like they do - for now I just want to feel safe.
Everyone wants to start some kind of fight, argument, lie etc I just don't feel safe - am I being crazy? please let me know.

No you are not crazy.

People tend to argue for a lot of reasons. It's usually healthy, debate things, share thoughts ...

But lately it hasn't been like that. People debate and argue about trivial things, they use words to harm each other, care not for the right or wrong, only wants to win the argument.

It's completely understandable and most of the times in our position, already tired from the world, we have no more interest in arguing with anyone.

No you are not crazy, people unfortunately are like this and we are more sensible than them, we see life with different eyes. Just stay away from those people or try not to be, if you are be neutral. I'm surrounded by people sometimes and do daydreaming so my body is there but I'm really not.

An episode of the TV show "Married with Children" had Al Bundy dressed as Santa tell a neiborhood child that "Yes, you can have a pony for Christmas. And if he isn't there Christmas morning, it is because your mother took him out and killed him".

There is a natural level of contention people can have with one another. When people live in close proximity like cities, this level can rise. Pushing things even further is when people trust sources of information as true when they are being fed information to rile them up, it can create an environment where many have a hair trigger to blast others.

I am a Christian and we are supposed to "as far as possible live at peace with all men", and "let each be persuaded in his own mind". Sadly the elevation of contention has infiltrated many if not most churches as well as society in general. Volunteer groups also similarly have often been influenced by the larger social trend.

You may have to just keep an eye out for those rare people that still show kindness and understanding and avoid the others.

So I read once that the endorphin rush that people get with a burst of anger (especially righteous anger) can become addictive. I think many people these days are addicted to (righteous) anger. (There's an entire website for that, called Twitter...)

If you're living with people addicted to anger and drama, that is indeed incredibly stressful :( I know moving can be impossible for many, though if you'd like to bounce ideas off of others I'm sure plenty of people here would be happy to give advice (eg on programs that might help), do some research, that sort of thing.

Best of luck to finding some peace soon! x

You are not crazy at all. It's a basic need to feel safe and not be in a constant state of fight/flight.

I'm in a similar situation as you where I don't feel completely 'safe' in my immediate environment. So I get how tough it can be ans how you might seem like the crazy one. You're not.

I've had to put my needs first and be upfront in telling others to back off and continuing to reinforce these boundaries since people live testing boundaries.

I'm sorry you're in this situation. I hope it gets better for you. Big hugs!

I feel the same way. I just want to be left alone and not have to deal with people constantly "debate" my existence and rights. It is everywhere in my university classes, on the news, in chats with my "friends". it is tiring.

A lot of people are emotionally stunted. If I can reference Twitter again: I can't believe they are grown adults who truly think that arguing and insulting other people online is the best way to advance their own agenda. If I saw children behaving this way, I would expect / hope their adult figures (teachers/parents etc) would give them the instruction they need to get along better with others.

I dunno people just suck. Sorry :(
