Sorry OP for the diversion...hopefully you felt comforted in knowing that you are not alone. The person obviously trusts you and felt confidence in sharing that with you. Maybe you now have a new unexpected confidante and deepening irl friendship. Hopefully that makes you feel a bit more normal in this awkward world where people demonize those who aren't "normal".

It's much more common than many people would like to admit but it gets swept under the carpet. Hopefully it allowed you and your friend to decompress and share those darker thoughts.
I wouldn't be surprised if not being able to talk about the urge to CTB is a major cause of it.
I would never personally open up to anyone in real life, but at least you have someone who understands what you are going through. I wish you the best.
