Help i know there's better options, but what if i went through with this?

long before finding this forum and finding all the more "peaceful" ways of going out, i always figured that the way i would dispatch myself would be by stabbing my 6 inch knife into the side of my throat and then slashing my whole neck open, hopefully dying like that. to add onto that, i've even planned that i would also jump off a nearby bridge onto a highway after i cut myself to guarantee my death (i don't live near water)

i've never told anybody but now that there's a place to, i wonder: is there anything i'm overlooking with this plan? is there any chance of me surviving this attempt at all? i know it sounds really gruesome but i was wondering if stabbing myself through the heart (like dexter does) or stabbing myself in the eye (to hit my brain, somehow) would result in a quicker death? i'm not concerned with a failure to cut as this knife is still factory sharp as it gets no use at all (i just collect knives for fun)

there is certainly better ways to go about doing this but when i first planned this out, i didn't have anything in my house other house to use other than my knife collection. i don't have guns and i don't have the means to order anything online right now so this is still my only plausible idea.

...and an off topic question, but why do people choose a more peaceful way of death? i don't believe in any sort of afterlife and i don't care (atleast right now) how much it will hurt as long as i know i will die quickly after. from my understanding i would think people are afraid of the pain a method like this involves or maybe the potential for failure, which are both totally valid reasons. i can even think of more logical answers but i was just wondering what one of you may personally think about this topic.

i think youd have okay chances if you could pull through with slashing your neck as splitting open jugular veins can be lethal (cutting veins in general isnt 99% of the time. i dont even know the chances of death for hitting jugular ones but they are major veins and easy to hit because of their size. you may also hit arteries)

i think you overestimate the possibility of you being able to do that though. getting yourself to stab yourself deep enough to hit much (blood vessel wise) will be hard by itself but being able to push through and continue cutting the rest of your neck open will be even harder. i hope my tone doesnt sound rude im just trying to be straightforward about your chances

i cant speak on the likelihood of highway bridge jumping but i think its unlikely that trying to cut your throat would work/contribute much to your attempt

Death by cutting ones neck with a knife/sword is nothing new, but it's a slow and painful death. Most likely, if you die, it will be from blood loss. I would very, very highly recommend against even trying this.

Several reasons:

1. SI - the more painful/scary/gory, the harder it is to do to yourself. Even jumping, which would be pretty much painless from high enough is incredibly hard to do.
2. Not effective. The most effective methods are quick. Things like F, firearms, and full suspension are instant, or take a couple mins max. When something takes a long time to kill, that means it is less lethal.
3. Most SS members have suffered enough, and don't want their last experience to be more pain.

Again, I can't emphasize enough how much you should not even attempt anything like what you're talking about. You will fail and wind up in a mental hospital for a couple months at the minimum. Then when you do get out, you will lose all your freedoms and never be allowed to be alone again. It will turn into a prison sentence you can't escape. Additionally, you will probably cause permanent damage that will have you hating yourself for just making your life worse.

There are much better ways if you really want to end things. It may not seem like other options are available now, but just take some time to assess your situation and don't rush into hurting yourself.

thank you for your response, i know it's probably obvious but the reasons you laid out make alot of sense, especially the 3rd one it makes alot of sense that one would want to pass on peacefully rather than suffer to the last second of being alive.

and for everyone who replied i appreciate your view on what i deemed to be my only option at one point, i hope when the time comes i can do something more peaceful and effective.. i don't even want to imagine the pain i would experience but i would always rationalize it as "i would be dead afterwards anyways so what does it matter".. it would be very gruesome though
