Hey all

I've been an impatient for over a week because I bought pure helium. I still feel it's the best way to go out and have contacts in place to get more helium when I leave.
My psychiatrist keeps wanting to involve my family, has that happened to anybody else?
I feel like it's my right what happens with me to be kept between me and my psychiatrist or treating team?
He keeps wanting to engage with my mother and my husband about what's going on with me.

My psychiatrist tried doing that too, got me so irritated. It's part of their treatment plan, they try bringing you closer to your family or some shit idk. I think you should be open with your doctor. If you explain why you don't want to engage with your family maybe he will stop

Hey mate, I'm sorry that they're doing this to you… The hospital has tried doing the same thing to me too, and even threatening they were going to call my family without my consent (saying they can call them at any time) despite knowing I have a huge trauma background associated with my family. I kept on trying to argue that I'm an adult and therefore have my own independence, but wasn't heard of. It's only when I talked about it with another nurse who kindly sorted everything out that they stopped forcing me to allow my family to be involved (or even know that I attempted as they don't live with me).

I guess the idea of having family involved is back to "safety precautions", in which technically the more people know about your plan etc, the more the professionals think that your plan can be "interrupted"… That's why often times in safety planning they require "someone" to check that you have "removed/limited access to means".

Yeah I understand why they do it, but I said to yesterday you will make me more suicidal if you involve them and I will be more upset and wanting to attempt something. He said if he feels I am in danger he can break the hippa rule of what ever it's called for patient safety

When I was younger my psychologist shared things I shared with them in confidence with my parents. Never shared anything with them again after that. same happened to a friend of mine

Some therapists do that to explain it to the family of the patient how much the person suffers and what he needs/ what the family should do, how they should behave especially that they should show empathy and support.
I remember my therapist wanted to do that but i was against it because my family would never behave properly the way you should behave towards a mentally ill person

oh yeah, that's really gonna work with people who have been wrecking you for years. Abuser family pretending platitudes, so they look good in front of the fucking healthcare "professional" while you have to nod and smile and not tell them what utter cunts they are.

Some therapists are so fucking stupid, they treat us like morons. It is a fucking deceit
