ah, the good ol' usa... where "meritocracy" and "respectability politics" are the bullshit institutions reserved for those with zero connections, no access to wealth, and absolutely no interest in exploiting others.

meanwhile, "nepotism," "corruption," "gaslighting," and "slave labor" are the actual tried-and-true strategies for stacking up financial, social, and generational rewards. but hey, at least we all have the "american dream" to look forward to—assuming you've got the right last name or the right bank account.

I could have sworn you were talking about Mexico... It seems to be the same everywhere. I'm literally a hopeless NEET because of the system we live in. I'd be motivated if we lived in a system where effort was valued and where, even if you start working 10 or 15 years later, you could adapt without any problem, but it seems the system says no, that people like me are screwed and condemned to die in poverty.

you're always dropping bangers

i'm so tired of this country as well. we've taken so many leaps in the wrong direction in such a short amount of time. this country was always shit and i was never a fan of any democrat candidates anyway (leftist👍🏻), but the last few months have felt like a horrific fever dream. even when things were shit, it still felt like we could fall back on our communities; but even that feels impossible now. society just shifted to the right, and now everything feels lonely. i've witnessed and even directly experienced the hatred and bigotry that has grown in the last year.
i know people who've had family members detained by ice, families i know about to starve because they rely on food stamps, and people are celebrating these atrocities.
i'm so lucky that i'm in a much more privileged position now. i make triple the minimum wage in my state, but money is still a concern and that's so pathetic—but i'm still in a significantly better situation than most. my family used to be poor, we used to rely on food stamps. we had moments where we had to worry about whether or not we'd be able to eat, and yet two of my family members still support trump through all of this. of course, they're no longer struggling as much so why should they care, right? admitting you were wrong about a presidential candidate is worse than any of this, obviously.
i feel like my rant took a different direction from what your post was talking about, so i apologize for that.
wishing you the best, i hope things can somehow improve soon.

I can gurantee that if Trump dies, somehow, some way, there'll be dancing in the streets. Then reality will come crashing in when everyone realizes that Vance becomes in charge. I hate this shit-hole country, too. It's not what it once was and I doubt it can ever be brought back.
