Anyone else hate making promises? I just agreed to help someone out next week but in truth I plan to kill myself before that happens. I'm ashamed, but fuck, I felt cornered.

Same. Between my volatility, chronic fatigue and major depression I find it best to stay in my own little world. At least people know not to count on me, I guess.

You could act offended and be like "of course I wouldnt, why would you even say that!?", and avoid explicitly promising while flipping it on them.

Yes, I hate making promises. I avoid people as much as I possibly can. However I understand it is difficult in the moment as you do not want to let people down. If it was something I knew I would definitely be unable to do, I would say no.

I won't ever make a promise I know I can't keep. Much less one that is forced on me. Nor will I ever feel compelled to uphold it if it was extorted from me.
But if I do it on my own free will, I'll keep the promise.
