story of my education is a long and complicated one but to summarize it i am 18 and i got into a college that i don't like because of my parents

i tried to get into another college but it seems like i wont make it

the good part is that if i continue to go to my current college i will be financially guaranteed or almost guaranteed

the bad part is that i will be doing a job i don't like but in this economy i think that's a luxury

i wont have a good college life but i will be able to afford many things and probably be able to work part-time

i feel a little relieved because i can find happiness in other things if i have the money

thank you for reading

After having been in business world for 50 years, one aspect always stands out: for the fore seeable future having money makes life easier, well duh! one says?

I went to college at 24, could NOT move up the food chain without a degree. I will say this, I made sure when I got out at the age of 28, worked till 24, worked all the time through college and right back at it after graduation, I made sure to do what I liked HOWEVER I also made darn sure that the position had 2 things going for it: 1) the ability to move up the food chain 2) that the comp plan was good.

I grew up ultra poor till the age of 18, food in stomach, shirt on back and a roof over my head and NOTHING ELSE PERIOD. I remember when I was young listening to folks who had soda pop and salty snacks, and I dreamed of a soda pop someday. When I was kicked out the day after I turned 18, I had it already in my head that money was VERY important, so was having a desire for the position, BUT money sure played a role in it.

I have been very fortunate to be able to do what I love, and the comp plan has been very good.

With you starting out, and believe me, nothing is guaranteed, but do what makes you happy, BUT keep in mind that without a decent comp plan after school, living can become a true nightmare. Decent housing-money, decent car-money, want a holiday-money, a partner-money.

Yes, getting up every morning hating a position is horrible and stay away from that BUT having a position that pays squat, and one is living with the constant worry of paying the bills and living paycheck to paycheck stinks because if one lives long enough one WILL slow down as the body wear down.

I will turn 70 next year and I am retiring, and I love what I do, and it is not physically taxing, but I do want to travel the world and have the ability to meet various cultures and folks.

Lots of well wishes and the very firm belief that you are a very intelligent and caring soul who WILL do and be great.

Walter
