Help I can't send messages

I'm new to the forum and can't message anyone. Is there any criteria I should meet to have this option enabled?

New members don't have access to chat, messaging, or the search bar.

While the details are not explicit in the terms and docs they send you when you sign up here... the gist and intent is clear that they want users to sign up and interact with others on the forum in order to earn access to other parts. Things like messaging are things it takes a little time and some interaction on the forums to earn. Give it time.
