I never actually respond with anything in order to avoid an argument, but I think to myself, how dimly they understand my feelings, and how hopeless it seems that they'll ever understand.

i just accept it and say "you're right" or "i love you too" or something along those lines.
it's a ridiculous statement, though, because i don't exist for anybody. i don't have to live because they'd "miss" me when i'm gone. they don't know the true me, they only have their own idea of me. that's what they love - who they think i am, not who i actually am.
Ha! That's kind of my reaction too. When I hear that, I just hear them telling me they have no idea who I am at all. Phony caring
