There is nothing mentioned about that in the PPeH and the bigger guides here I belive, I have definitly read something about it here and there but I cant really remember, sorry.
Feel free to just link me where to look. I´m asking myself whats the optimal position after I had my last drink.
I definitly would like to lay down (many protocols say "lay down" as a last step, but it can just mean "chill now") or are there any reasons why sitting upright is better?
The recovery position helps to not suffocate after vomiting when I´m unconscious, right? And I suppose vomiting at that stage (not right after drinking) would not matter for the SN absorption. So does it matter at all, just get as comfy as I can?

People I have seen are in their bed with bodies propped up with pillows, or the headboard. One I think started more laying down, and then propped himself up more I think. Probably because of nausea.

yes the recovery position would stop choking on vomit because you're head is on its side, so if you're gunna vomit don't lay flat on your back or you will choke if unconscious. I'm not sure if position would matter other than that and also you're convulsing, so being comfy in bed with pillows would make that quieter and plus you'd feel soothed as you drift away.

Damn that sounds rough, im sorry. May I ask you how much Sedative´s u took, and when?
But the fact you were not able to drink the second cup it not a reason the attempt would have failed, it´s because someone found you, right?

Thats better, thanks!

edit: Wait, thats weird, does the side you lay on not matter? The pictures show both.
Nvm, Internet says it does not matter, only if you´re pregnant.

But theoretically, and if I manage so stay concious without vomiting for 10 minutes after drinking SN, then it would not matter, right? Maybe I´d die because I cant breathe before the SN kills me, but for me it makes no difference, or am I wrong? Im asking because I cant tell how it will be, maybe my body wants to move a lot, of course I cant be sure that I will stay in recovery position after fainting.

I´ll add some more information I´ve found.

In the PPeH 2025 it says: "It is best to ensure that the person is sitting semi-upright in an armchair and that they have a long (<24 hour) period of time when they will not be disturbed." (Chapter Sodium Nitrite - Eye Witness Accounts)

And I found another thread where the topic was already discussed (and where most people prefer Recovery Position on the right side).
According to PPH, after ingestion and the onset of the first symptoms (approx. 5 min. from ingestion), lie on the right side. There are two reasons: the first is to prevent a fall because the loss of consciousness comes suddenly, and the second is to speed up SN resorption.
As far as I understand, SN will get into the blood from the small intestine. In order for it to get there faster from the stomach, you need to lie on your right side 🫂
