How thick should padding be for full suspension? No more than ie one towel or can it be the thickness of two towels or even three? I plan on using a rope around 10-12mm wide

would only use one towel. But just try it, wrap as much towels as you like around your neck and try to tighten the rope. If you do not feel dizzyness, it was too much

I think one towel would be enough. Don't want to make it too thick.

One should be enough. It should just take away the concentrated pain from the rope and spread it a little more. It shouldn't restrict the closing of the rope or the compression of the neck
