• Hey Guest,

We wanted to share a quick update with the community.

Our public expense ledger is now live, allowing anyone to see how donations are used to support the ongoing operation of the site.

    👉 View the ledger here

Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

If you value the community and would like to help support its continued operation, donations are greatly appreciated. If you wish to donate via Bank Transfer or other options, please open a ticket.

It looks like I'll be hanging around here (pun intended) for a while longer.

So it got me thinking: how off-topic can the off-topic section be allowed to be.

Like, I want to be able to post on news and current affairs of a global political nature or economic nature, but I recognise that two reasons come up:

1.) it's going to cause fights or arguments rather than peaceful opinions
2.) people will say because it's this sort of site, they don't want to stray "that far" off topic, in off topic.

so for those of us having to settle in here for a sort of long-haul, what are we thinking here?

I say go for it. If the fights start World War 3 here, moderators will handle it.

Have you read some of the other off topic posts? I think this is more on topic than some of the others

You can start a thread about anything.. No limits.. But you need to select a topic that will get SS members engaged in a conversation.

i have the feeling people here get easily offended and react emotional to controversial topics ... dont think its a good idea to post about politics

besides there are other places for that

I would definitely put a lot of thought into what you post if you decide to go the "political" route so that it remains respectful. Politics, religion and subjects of that sort always bring up some pretty strong emotions with everyone. Personally I would refrain from those type posts, but there's no rule against it, so make your post in a way that is respectful and engaging with no disrespect to others. Remember to keep things civil or the post will be removed by a mod or admin.

Well if the $17 burnt cheeseburger thread is anything to go by, you can go pretty wildly off topic. Personally, I love that I have never read a political post on SS but I guess all good things must come to an end.

Well if people are willing to discuss how often they change their underwear, then I think you'll be safe.

I once burnt the tomato sauce for my spaghetti. It was 1.35 €. Any opinions?
