I want to get better. I don't want to CTB because I'm depressed, so I want to have it under control before revisiting the idea of CTB in the future (if ever again).

Back in 2019, I was diagnosed with an eating disorder, depression, anxiety and OCD. My therapist prescribed Prozac, and over the months, people around me said I was so much happier and pleasant to be around. Due to some issue with the hospital, I could no longer go back to my therapist and I stopped taking Prozac.

Yesterday, I bought Prozac (20 mg) and I want to start taking it. The only problem is I don't know how much I should take, and I can't go back to a therapist to ask. I'm much fatter than I was in 2019, and I don't remember what dosage my doctor gave me then. Does anyone know how much I should take?

I was thinking of taking 40 mg a day for a month, and increase the dose if I don't see a change. Is that safe? Is a month enough to see if the medication is working? I would appreciate any help.

Are you looking for a new therapist? I think starting from the lowest dose is probably better, it's going to be better regarding the side effects too. I think that antidepressant dosages are not directly related to weight in most cases. My weight fluctuated but my therapist never changed my dose.

And yeah, a month is usually long enough to potentially see the beneficial effects but it's individual

I can't afford a therapist currently, but I may ask my parents for help eventually. I remember when my old therapist prescribed Prozac to me, it didn't do much at first, and he increased my dosage from 1 pill a day to 2. When that didn't work, he said it was probably because of my weight and made me take 4 pills a day instead (which finally made it work for me). Again, I don't remember the dosage, so I'm unsure how much I should take now.

But I think 40 mg is safe enough to try at first, so I might just try that for a month and see what happens. I looked it up, and I found a website that listed what the dosage should be based on *why* you're taking the medication. And I think 40 is a good middle ground (the largest dose it mentioned was 60 mg).
