As someone who tried this, don't. I took over 250 pills and threw up for hours straight, then became severely dehydrated. Not a fun experience.

You'll need a lot, probably the whole bottle. But this method (or any OTC drug overdose in general) is unreliable, very painful, and slow to even "work". Not to mention it could cause long term organ damage (usually to liver and kidneys first), please reconsider if you're serious about doing this method.

It is extremely rare for ibuprofen overdose itself to be the cause of any persons death. The vast majority of cases have a benign clinical course.

DISCUSSION Severe poisoning with ibuprofen is rare. We report the first death related to isolated sustained-release ibuprofen poisoning.

In 2005, the American Association of Poison Control Centers received reports of 71,109 exposures and 25 deaths associated with ibuprofen use [1]. The majority of these reported deaths involved coingestants, and ibuprofen was unlikely to be the primary, causative factor.

It can however cause internal bleeding and organ rupture.. and to experience extreme amounts of pain.

I've said in another thread on overdosing on tylenol, and this applies to ibuprofen as well:
For otc pain meds, they should be used as designed and instructed. Never for suicide. Only way it should be used when it comes to that, is when you're taking it to combat the aches and pains that may come as a side effect to whatever your method is.

Better access does not equate to an easier or successful outcome with respect to what you seem to be looking for.

I watched my best friend go through end-stage liver failure accompanied by renal failure, cardiomyopathy, and eventually systematic organ shut down. It was not quick - about 2 to 3 months I think. She was in agony.

Overall, it was horrific to see her go through this and I cannot imagine the pain she went through.

I was considering CTB by ibuprofen, but honestly, it's wildly unreliable. I've survived 2 massive overdoses myself, all I got out of it was a few long weeks in the psych ward. I was lucky enough to get away with just a few days in hospital, but others aren't as fortunate. Death by ibuprofen is long and drawn out, not to mention painful. It can take weeks. Weeks of lying in agony as your organs slowly shut down.

If this isn't bait, nobody here's going to give you methods to CTB. It's up to you to research. We can't stop you from doing anything, but if you are, please don't even attempt OTC meds. They're easy to access for a reason- because they don't work.

I get so worried every time I see a thread title like this in the forum. I know how horrible life can be, how desperately you want to end things, and how difficult it might seem to get some of the more "specialty items" to ctb. Sometimes those OTC meds are all we have and we think it's our only chance. Really, it's just going to be horribly painful and will get you locked up in a ward for some time because of the failed attempt. Even most prescription meds are typically not good enough for the job. The nice thing about a place like this is that there are countless resources so you can find an option that's right for you. There are also lots of stories from people who have attempted methods and can share their experiences. And if you're not so sure about ctb at the moment and just need to try to overcome the immediate pain you're feeling, the Recovery Forum is a useful resource and so are the numerous kind, supportive souls you'll meet on this site - many of whom have probably experienced similar troubles to yours.
