How many of you are anti-natalists?

Just wanted to know. I believe that in SS we have many anti natalists but I might be surprised, who knows. Just let your opinions.

Personally, I think other people can do whatever they want regarding that. I don't want to bring children into this world, because I can barely take care of myself and wouldn't be able to afford a decent childhood for my child. I don't have to worry about that though, because I'm never going to have anyone to potentially have children with anyway.

I'm not. I have no desire to reproduce and have kids of my own, but if somebody else has different views, that's perfectly fine. I hate some of my genes, they caused me a lot of harm, and I don't want to pass them on. That does mean I support eugenics and making it illegal to have kids if you have certain illnesses - I strongly recommend adopting in that case though. I considered adoption, but not if I'm alone. There are plenty of kids that need help already.

Let people live their lives the way they want to, as long as they are well informed and don't harm others (you could argue that bringing life is harmful, of course, that's the entire point of anti-natalism). I'm fine with bringing life to this world, but allow people to leave it if they want to (at a certain age, let's say 20 years old, and make sure they are not coered, bullied into, not dying to sell organs, you ask them every day for a year if they are sure, and so on).

"Why can't we all get along", it's really not that hard. There is middle ground for everything - expect for greed in terms on money, power, wars, lies, deliberate misinformation - that's literally the main cause of most issues in the world. There is no need to force your views on somebody else, we can literally live next to each other, and at worst just ignore each other. But there are people that are unwilling to do that and humanity needs to learn how to deal with that.

But answering this, yes I am, is morally incorrect putting more humans in this world and objectively speaking, see, entire the existence of being is needed life, the essence of life is suffer, the suffer is guaranteed, while hapiness isn't and in whatever way, suffer count more than hapiness.

Me, I'm anti natalist, anti natalists to be more exact, I do not agree with the Natalists. I'm not anti natalist as in anti any people being born, I'm against people saying everyone should be born and keep making kids, high birthrate and such things.

I'm not well familiarized with it and from the few things I had exposure doesn't seem to make sense to me.

What's exactly the point of antinatalism? I mean you've already been born, whether you resent it or not. It isn't something that you can change.

It's not a question of consent either, because before you began existing there were no you to consent or not. And if consent is relevant, we should also consider that there's people who enjoy and or desire to live despite the suffering.

If the goal is to educate people so they can have "better" judgement over these kind of decisions the approach isn't going to have any real impact what so ever. The agenda is only attractive to people who already think like that, I see it as just another of the many forms of tribalism and herd mentality.

That said, I'm definitely not an antinatalist.
But I wish my parents were, lol.

I am full on anti-natalist. I don't see a benefit for someone to come into existence as no one can desire to live in the first place but you can however resent to exist if you are alive. There is an imbalance here. With non-existence you can't be disadvantaged at all when with existing you can which to me makes me find it unfair to force new people into this world when life has risk to it. No one should be forced into something that is of risk of disadvantaging them when they couldn't of wanted it in the first place.

Yes. Definitely for myself. Not quite so miltantly when it comes to other people.

I suppose as an idea/ principle though, it makes sense to me. I'm pro-choice. I believe it's the most important gift we have and it needs to be protected except when our choices impact other people's rights to choose. People who want to make the choice to kill or rape others need stopping because they are eliminating other people's right to choose.

The problem with life itself- as I see it is- our choices are so narrow. We are defined/ restricted by our own biology, health, financial situation, capabilities, the endless rules and expectatations placed upon us. We don't even get the choice to not participate in life (freely anyway.)

So- while it may be respecting a prospective parents right to choose to procreate, they are bringing a sentient being into a situation that is effectively very anti-choice. The child will be expected to comply and it will receive punishment if it doesn't. That doesn't seem fair to me.

I mean most people like being alive to some extent. Not everyone is the right fit to be a parent, and I don't think they should become parents if they cant, but personally i don't see reproduction as the problem. we have the resources to support the estimated peak population of 11 billion so long as we aren't greedy and know what we're doing. The problem is that we are and we don't. were taking the whole world with us as we delve into a worse and worse society. I have no problem with people who are both satisfied with their life and have the passion to make it better. But right now it feels like they're the minority.

To me being forced into this torturous, futile existence that there was never a need for at all is always so dreadful, I see existence as the most terrible tragedy that just causes harm and suffering with no limit as to how much agony one can feel and I'd just never wish for any of this, to me existence really is an abomination that just causes so much suffering all for the sake of it and more than anything I wish this existence was never imposed. I suffer so much from being forced into this existence of unnecessary suffering and cruelty with suffering seen as to force and prolong no matter what even know it all just leads to decay and death anyway, all I hope for is non-existence, I'd never wish to be conscious of anything at all, to me existence just feels like a mistake and I always see existence itself as the true problem.

I'm a pretty hardcore anti-natalist that still has a strong desire to reproduce. I am very aware of the cognitive dissonance there, but I'm essentially infertile so it doesn't even matter in my case. If I had the ability to, I would very likely have children despite being an anti-natalist, and yes I would accept that this makes me a hypocrite. I have a strong desire to continue my bloodline, even when I think that it is disgusting. I find a sort of divinity in creating a new life with somebody that I am strongly in love with.

However, I see gambling with another's life as pretty selfish at best, and downright immoral at worst. Even if you have an ideal scenario, there is always a risk that can ruin your child's life that you can't really control for. It very much gives "Some of you may die, but that's a sacrifice I'm willing to make" energy. If I did have a kid, I would try my best to provide for them a life I never got to enjoy, but I'd be downright stupid to then be surprised when something doesn't go as planned and now my child is suffering worse than I am despite all my best efforts.

Even my own birth was one that was pretty carefully planned, and it still turned out to be shit. I'd rather have been a miscarriage/stillborn since I doubt my parents would've ever considered abortion.

Yes, I am anti natalist, it drove me to get sterilized. Although. for better or worse I'm not nearly as vocal about it as I used to be. People are going to be people, and make drastic decisions without putting significant thought it to them, I've decided the stress of advocating this topic is not worth it. I wish more people understood what a beautiful thing adoption is.
