I have a boy cat. My sister was the one who got him. I wasnt apart of the process. He's real cute and nice, but I don't like pets. It's just depressing and worrying when you realize they'll eventually die. Id rather have no one so that I wont worry about them dying or getting hurt.

Not technically mine, my parents own them and care for them most of the time, but I was home the summer we got the younger one and he's quite attached to me. When I was younger and lived at home I did initially plan to wait to ctb until after the older one died (dw he's 13 and spry as ever).
I wouldn't say get a pet to keep you here, more for their sake than yours. If you can't hold on they'll be more devastated than a human could ever be because they just won't get that you're not coming back.

My dog helped me a lot when I was going through a difficult period in my life. He always makes me laugh with his mischievous behavior. I'm renovating my house, and he keeps stealing things- anything from my tools (I once spent two hours looking for my tape measure!) to building materials. He has stolen a surprising number of short dsp strips.
For some reason, he absolutely adores our cat and completely loses his mind with excitement whenever the cat is around.
Overall, everything would be great if he didn't wake me up at three in the morning by scratching me. photo

I actually have a cat. I'm busy for the summer and even before that, so my mom's been caring for mine for a while now. I'm hoping to get her back late August early September. She's saved my life a lot, I was just curious how many could relate.

I have cats, but my mom wanted one more because i was felling down and...well yesteday the cat was his adoption birthday (one year). i dont wanted that cat, but i love him, he is my little son (and a little bastard) but he and my other cat (i have two) help me a lot :)

I don't recommend if you're strugling with personal care, pets take need energy to be feed, clean, etc.

No, I've never had a pet or really looked for that emotional comfort, I just keep with my strict daily routine, but sometimes lately with my grad school work I wonder if it would help me.

I had a dog who was everything to me and helped me through so much. But he died last year and now life's meaningless. One of the reasons why I'm on this site tbh

Yeah I love my cat, I do agree with you. People shouldn't get a pet if they cannot care for themselves reliably. Luckily, despite how bad depression can get sometimes, the worst I usually do is let trash pile up in my room and apartment for a bit,

Aw I'm sorry for your loss:(.

I know it may sound dramatic but my cat has saved my life more than once. Not even just out of guilt but one time I was super close to CTB and then she jumped in my lap and purred like crazy.
