How long were you in the hospital following your attempt?

I spent a night in the ER and a week in psych.

Partial suspension. I was 17 at the time, so I had no say in it. And my mother didn't want to let me go, til the doctors said it was ok, really convinced they'd know what's best.

At one time I was in the same room with a woman who chanted in Ethiopian at random times (at night too) and a bulimic girl who routinely puked right from her bed on a towel.
And during rain it leaked in six spots at the ward.
It wasn't fun.

About an hour... I didn't need any hospital treatment but they wanted to keep me in the psych ward indefinitely as I was psychotic at the time. I had a meeting with the psychiatrist but then an old psychiatrist I saw as a child telephoned in, intervened and got me let out. He was convinced that being sectioned would ruin me and destroy my prospects in life and so luckily I was set free. I've never been back and the crumbling place was torn down a couple of years later.

Just one night, and then I was sent to the Psych Ward for about a week.

Four days in ICU plus an additional four days in the hospital. Then six weeks psych hospital. About a dozen rounds of electro convulsive treatments, and med adjustments. Honestly saved my life, and it did give me about ten years of stability.

Now I feel like I'm back to square one. Got shit insurance and can't afford decent treatment. Whatever.

when i was 16 i overdosed on an assortment of pills: 3 or 4 days in the hospital mostly blacked out then 2 weeks in psych ward from there things got much worse i spent 3 months in a wilderness camp and 9 months in an "adolescent treatment center" . psych ward was heaven compared to those . i'm 32 now and as shitty as my life has been i don't think anything tops that shit. also did time in the same psych ward when i was like 13 followed by a different wilderness camp and "emotional growth boarding school" that weren't that bad.

Two days in ICU I had no strong injury, then three weeks in psych ward

Seven weeks or so, and it wasn't even a real attempt in my opinion. I had willingly stopped mid-attempt. I tried explaining that to my psychologist to prove I wasn't a danger to myself and he felt it meant I was as I had started an attempt in the first place.

Police brought me in. I was in ER for like three days due to bed shortage, and mostly in isolation room because I was involuntary. Then seven weeks in psych ward. Staff was amazing, honestly, but experience still sucked. They wanted to keep me longer, but my certification expired and I wasn't actively suicidal anymore.

The ICU for me wasn't bad for the most part. When I moved rooms to wait for the psych floor it was worse. Though was a children's hospital so at least there's hope they are nice to fatally ill kids. I was an adult, but the hospital sent me there, simply because I was so ill after the attempt. I was unconscious, but it's what they told me. The psych ward was terrible

My last hospitalisation was supposed to be a checkup lasting a few days but they decided to keep me 3 months.

I stayed about that long, bc I didn't buy their BS. They made up I was psychotic, admittedly, bc I was there for a suicide attempt, which is harder to coerce into taking drugs. The psychiatrist said they'd need to "treat my problem indirectly". Although that was supposedly for bipolar, to which he decided I didn't fit, and had "mood problems"

2 weeks in psych ward unit. It was at a good hospital and the food was awesome which is rare.

Spent my 2 last years in an open psych ward(could get out of the hospital premises for couple of hours), now I'm a day patient which means I'm going every morning to the hospital five days a week for dynamic groups, psychotherapy and meeting with a psychiatrist. It's pretty much postponed for now tho because of the pandemic, I'm there for 2 days every week only for my psychologist meeting.
