How long should a suicide note be?

I have like 5 different ones, ranging from 2 lines to 5 pages. What would you consider to be a decent size? Obviously a suicide note can be any length, but what would be an ideal?

Depends on who it's written to. So far I've finished 3 out of the 6 I plan on writing. All of them are a full page and are addressed for immediate family members. I haven't gotten to my best friend's letter, but with my notes I see that easily being over 2 pages.

In my opinion, since the letter is your last statement, I'd be more concerned about quality over quantity.

One I've written is a half page, another is a quarter page, and another is like a short paragraph. Doesn't really matter as long as it says what you want to express.

To me, there isn't really an ideal length for notes. We all have different situations and some people have more to say in their notes than others. I think that a suicide note is a personal thing and only you know what's best. I think that for me personally, I wouldn't write an excessively long note, I would prefer to just give some sort of explanation as to why I have chosen to do this so that those left behind are less likely to be left with unanswered questions.

I think you shouldn't overthink the lenght of the note. After all, you wont be able to say anything anymore once you are gone. I'll be making 2 seperate videos which will last a couple of hours each for two sets of people I know as I found that to be easier than making notes for everyone.

i tried to write my suicide note today. oh god i cried so hard and couldnt get very far. i wrote half a page and that was enough to make me mourn my own funeral.

I guess that depends on the laws of your country or state (if from the US). In my country, all you need to do is to have 2 witnesses that arent close to you relations wise, who are clearheaded and sane around when you write the will and have them sign the document. You dont need a lawyer present here at least.

I would only write something to try to comfort those who still care about me, I don`t feel like writing anything more than that.

Mine is about 4-5 pages long. The important thing is to write accurately and lovingly. Answer all the questions your loved ones may have. The idea of the note is to give closure to your story and comfort those who stayed on earth.

I don't think how long the suicide note is matters. Its what you say that matters.

I've written two - one for the legal entities that confirm I've made my decision alone without influence and in a rational state of mind. This is effectively a statement of intent to confirm its suicide. This will be left with my body as anything found with me becomes part of the evidence.

The other is to my partner and will confirm that I'm now free from the mental and physical torment of this world, that I'm finding peace and that there is nothing he could have done to ease that torment more than he already did.
