I think there is a chance to develop sepsis by wounding yourself with rusty armature, but there is always a chance it will be defeated with your immune system or either lead to an amputation of damaged limb..
I have had sepsis twice...still here. Oh, and on both occasions it was at least a week before it was discovered.
