for some reasons, profiles are hidden by default. Imo, they should be visible to registered users by default, like most other social media sites. Yes, there can be a notice that "Posts here may be visible to other users", and the option to change privacy settings shown.
New accounts might not yet be able to PM, idk if it is 1 week and 10 posts... or some other stronger criteria... coz I didn't note down when features appeared.Rules and FAQs
How can I create a thread, send a PM to a user, or join the chat?
The permissions to create a thread, send and receive PMs, and use the chatroom will be granted automatically after you post a certain secret number of times and are active for at least 24 hours. This is to avoid spam and abuse of accounts.
